Chapter 6: The Shen Hua Mountains, Part 3

"Senior Brother, I may be overstepping, but may I speak my mind?" The robust man inquired as they ambled along. Liu Xiao cast a fleeting glance at the intersecting paths before responding, "Proceed."

"Senior Brother, you're incredibly light! Do you not engage in physical training? Even lifting five sacks of rice grains strains me," he remarked. In the background, muffled coughs from other disciples resonated, signaling their disapproval of the robust man's blunt and disrespectful comment.

With a sigh and an eye roll, Liu Xiao retorted, "I do engage in exercise." The surrounding disciples fell silent, anticipating his elaboration. "However, for some inexplicable reason, this body refuses to build muscle. It appears overly delicate," Liu Xiao expressed with a frown and a click of his tongue. "Thus, I've shifted my focus to fortifying my spiritual qi. Now, I'm capable of slicing through numerous trees, or so I believe," he added with a hint of uncertainty.

The robust man's agape mouth snapped shut as he nodded slowly, feigning concurrence with Liu Xiao. He shifted his stance to offer Liu Xiao a more comfortable perch on his shoulder. "Stay vigilant; serpents could be lurking nearby, biding their time to strike," Liu Xiao admonished the trailing disciples. He caught sight of Wu Qingge's glare, laden with annoyance.

Why are you staring at me like that? Damn it! v(;'༎ຶД༎ຶ')v I didn't do anything to you. I didn't even torment you any more using other disciples! Don't raise my death flag on your own!

Wu Qingge noticed Liu Xiao's gaze. His annoyed expression softened into a gentle smile. In response, Liu Xiao offered an awkward smile.

At Liu Xiao's raised hand, the entire crowd came to an abrupt halt, their alarm palpable. Swords were drawn as wary eyes scanned the dark, towering trees.

Liu Xiao descended from the bulky man's shoulder. From behind, Wu Qingge's irritated look had vanished completely. The bulky man provided support as Liu Xiao carefully touched down to the ground. Offering a nod of gratitude, Lou Xiao proceeded towards the large boulder obstructing their path.

The night stretched on. Five hours had passed since Liu Xiao remembered they started their trek. The large, luminous moon hung motionless in the sky, its presence a constant overhead. Wait...... Didn't move? Could this be?

"Darn, I've made a mistake." Liu Xiao loudly slapped his forehead. The disciples were all taken aback and inquired, "Senior Brother, what's the matter? Why did you slap your forehead so suddenly? Are we lost?" one disciple questioned.

"No," Liu Xiao sighed deeply while massaging his temples. "The truth is, we haven't moved an inch."

"Huh?"

"But we walked straight for five hours!"

"Yeah. My feet even hurt."

"What does Senior Brother mean by not moving at all?"

"This is confusing..."

"Yeah, the road didn't seem to be a repeated pathway."

The disciples were all in a state of panic, murmuring among themselves. Liu Xiao cast a glance at Wu Qingge and Chen Yi. Chen Yi had been engaging Wu Qingge in non-stop conversation, while he simply nodded, remaining silent.
