In a matter of a few months, Kokichi seemed to open up more to Shuichi.

Of course, Kokichi kept tons more boundaries and fences up around Shuichi, which sucked, but that wasn't in their control.

Shuichi only noticed one thing recently..

His feelings never left.

If anything- they grew.

Worsened.

And gained.

Shuichi couldn't help but wait for the next time he would see Kokichi.

See Kokichi smile, or laugh.

Kokichi was perfect, in his eyes.

Love was funny like that...

And Shuichi knew-- he had a chance of still being with him...

Kokichi didn't believe it.

And, Kokichi still didn't trust Shuichi fully...

Why couldn't Kokichi love Shuichi back?

He watched how Kokichi ran around the room, trying to get away from Tenko, after he snatched Himikos hat.

He was so filled with life, and happiness now..

Kokichi was happier without Shuichi.

Kokichi recovered.

But Shuichi isn't.

He watched as Tenko tackled Kokichi to the ground, and how they both laughed until they cried.

Kokichi was not suffering anymore..

Not suffering because of Shuichi...

He watched Tsumugi and Angie offer their hands to help Kokichi and Tenko stand. How Kokichi quickly took Tsumugi's tie, and untied it with a quick pull, and ran, laughing even harder.

A handsome prankster..

Who Shuichi fell in love with.

And finally, he watched as Kokichi ran into Kaede and Miu, giving them both a hug, and laughing and chatting with them as they left the room.

Kokichi couldn't love Shuichi back.

He got surgery, and was punished for it.

It took Shuichi this moment to realize it..

To realize....

That this was helpless.

To come to terms that Kokichi couldn't feel the same.

And wouldn't every feel the same.

How this situation couldn't change.

Shuichi loved him, and Kokichi couldn't love him back.

He came to terms with it.

And coming to terms with it...

Shuichi could only ignore his feelings.

And ignore the tickling in the back of his throat...

And the tightness in his lungs.
