The atmosphere was a mix of dread and bubbliness. The bubbliness obviously from Jennette’s cute blabber.

She thought for the Emperor to finally invite Anthanasia meant he was warming up to her.

The dread from the girl who feared in any minute the Emperor would order his knight to slice her neck of.

After her father the second person she feared was the man who was labelled as the ‘knight of crimson blood’, Felix Robanne.

She feared making eyes contact with him. Looking at his red hair brought images of her blood being mercilessly spilled by his sword which hung magnificently by his waist.

“Would you like to stop eating the food?” Felix asked gently as he referred to Anthanasia’s full plate.

But the fear she had for him translated his words into another language “If you want to stop eating the food I might as well take away your teeth”

“N, no. It’s very tasty~” Anthanasia said as she flinched due to his approaching steps.

“It seems like it is not to your liking. You’re eating it as if its poison” Felix said considerately as he looked at Anthanasia.

Anthanasia’s translation: “It seems like you don’t like it as we didn’t poison you. The emperor wouldn’t kill you by some painless means.”

“The council meeting” The Emperor said directing his words to Anthanasia.

“Yes?”

“Was the decision smart?”

“Yes…

“Give me a straight answer” He said sharply.

“Yes. As it was based on laws from the constitution I’m sure it will work out” Anthanasia said doing her best not to stutter in between her words.

A short conversation passed between Jennette, Claude and Anthanasia. Though she felt uncomfortable through the most part, it was kind of…enjoyable.

The first she had spoken to her father passed quickly. He said he had a head ache but before then he made a statement.

“A ball to declare our new tax rate is coming up a month from now. As the younger princess, Anthanasia you will accompany me through the dances.”

It was unexpected and shocking but she felt…happy at this news. But she paid in mind her choice of not getting her hopes up.

‘Remember your choice of not expecting anything’

She somehow looked forward to the ball, were, for the first time, she would be her father’s companion.

Anthanasia’s surprise when the Emperor assigned Felix Robanne to protect her from a danger she was trying to think of, could not be described with mere words.

In her head, ‘protect’ had to be given air quotes. She finally understood the danger was the Emperor herself, or maybe from her fainting due to how scary Felix looked.

She was relieved when Lily took away his attention with a conversation, but she pitied Lily for having to go through the fear of talking to him, yet she did not see fear in her face.

“Princess” Felix said snapping Anthanasia out of her thoughts.

“Y, yes?”

He covered his mouth before a little pink color crept on his cheek “Do you perhaps not like me?”

Anthanasia was left bewildered as she looked at the blushing face of the knight before her.

“It’s n, not like that, it’s just…

Anthanasia let her words trail as she backed away from Felix, but stopped and cleaned her eyes just to be sure her eyes thought it wasn’t April Fool’s Day yet.

Tears brimmed at Felix’s eyes and slowly slid down his cheek as he huddled on the ground trying his best to clean them away.

It was now hard to compare the war hero labeled ‘the knight of crimson blood’, slaughtering hundreds of enemies beside the cold Emperor Claude and the Felix literally rolling on the ground crying!

She felt like the most evil person in the world as she stood looking at him.

“I don’t like you, because I love you! You’re the one who’s been with my father and guarded him loyally, how can I not like you” Anthanasia said nervously as she waved her arms and accidentally started patting his head.

She wanted to redraw her hand but the way he purred like a cat and said “Really!” Like a little child meant he enjoyed it. “Phew. I was worried her Highness didn’t like me because I might have done something to offend her”

The man who she was afraid of yesterday seemed to disappear and instead replaced with this pure beam of light.

Falling from the tower and not landing on his feet was really embarrassing, but at least no one saw it.

‘I’m bored’

Once again, abandoning his paperwork he teleported to the ruby palace and leaned against the wall, watching the scene of a grown man on the ground being petted like a little puppy by Anthanasia.

‘Nope. Anything else is definitely better than this’

Lucas teleported back to the tower thinking of looking at what was on the so called important matters.

“Duchess on the brink of death due to mana overload attack.
An epidemic that can only be cured by magic.
Use of Black Magic in the Empire.

And I thought there would actually be something important or interesting here. Sigh. I’m hungry”
