TW: death

December, the 2nd, 1979

"You can't do it!" James exclaimed, running out of the Great Hall to meet his sister halfway, as she and Lily were helping a bloody Severus up.

Fawkes had flown away, wandering around the grounds of Hogwarts again. Or perhaps he had left, never to be seen again.

"James, don't start." Juliet sighed, allowing the Healers that rushed out to take over, watching them take Snape in.

"You can't, I won't let you." He refused, shaking his head.

"Juliet!" A call, full of relief was heard behind James, and Juliet saw her partner for the first time since the battle had started.

She felt her silently heavy heart be lifted again, as the couple embraced each other. She pulled away just a bit, cupping his cheek, caressing the dirt and dried blood that had stained him. He leaned his forehead onto hers, closing his eyes.

"Okay, good, you're here now. Mate, can you tell your girlfriend she can't go to the devil incarnate on her own?" James interrupted them.

"You weren't really planning to do it, were you?" Remus worriedly looked at his girlfriend.

"Of course not, James is an idiot." She rolled her eyes.

"Okay, then what will you do?"

"I'll let him come to me."

"What- How is that any better!?" James exclaimed.

Juliet was getting a headache because of her brother, and she shot him a glare.

"Just trust me, will you? Voldemort wants the Elder wand, he'll come get it himself." She explained calmly before heading into the Great Hall.

It was saddening, staring at the injured and dead bodies that laid around, including that of Dobby. Juliet turned away immediately from his small body, she didn't even want to start thinking about how he had just gained his freedom.

Friends cried for each other, all knew they were to sacrifice love, they didn't realize it would happen in such ways.

Juliet's whole expression fell entirely when amongst the few deaths, she recognized the body of Gideon Prewett. Staring back up at the twin that remained, she felt her heart break. Fabian cried, inconsolable, in the arms of his girlfriend Mary.

She couldn't believe it. She had just spoken to him, like three hours prior. How could it go so wrong so fast?

Shaking, she turned to look at James, who stared back at her with the same fear. Both selfishly feared that they would experience the same pain.
