Ever looked at people
With nothing more
Than one thought,
Only for time to pass,
And whatever thought
You harbor now is the opposite?
The incident I'm going
To name has something
To do with this theme,
And it's something I went through.
There was a group I looked up to,
And to no one's surprise,
It was the popular group.
I thought they had everything,
I thought they had invincibility,
I thought they had no reason to be sad,
I thought they had the perfect life,
And I thought they were worth copying.
I realized they were a lot like me;
They were just more talked about,
Had a lot more friends,
And a bigger ego.
They even had their
Fair share of insecurities,
Many of which matched mine
Or anyone else who kissed their boot.
There are populars of all shades
Just like there are of their opposite,
For we're not so different after all,
So why not drop the labels,
And treat each other equally?
