Being Me

84 8 2

You see so much of me,
But you always commit the same crime,
The one where you never see the real me.

It's like a spear
Is driven into my chest;
For each time I confess
That I'm more than what you see,
You act as though I haven't said a thing.

When I said
"What you see is what you get,"
I meant that it's best
That I show you everything about me
As opposed to telling you.

I could continue begging you to listen,
And hope for the day
You'll finally obey,
But now that I think about it,
It's really not worth my time,
So I'm going to continue being myself
Whether you see it or not.
