I don't know how long I stood there, staring at the remains of my parents and brother. I felt as if I had become the forest itself; lifeless and burned, but from within. I was looking, but not really. My mind was replaying everything, replaying memories that I wished were now gone. I wished that I didn't remember anything, didn't remember the happiness of being with them because with every sharp intake of breaths, shards of pain and loss shot in with them.

Something under my skin roiled and roared, charging through my veins like lightning. It roared about being released and unleashed through the world, but I didn't know how, nor did I care and soon it began to quiet and settle back into a deep sleep.

I might have cried, I didn't know.

I couldn't think anymore, nothing reasonable would enter my mind. And nothing, I couldn't feel anything except endless pain.

I just wanted this to end.

A warm hand landed on my shoulder, but I didn't move. I didn't look, I just kept on staring.

"Let's go," the person murmured. Uncle Rowan. Yet again I didn't move. And before I could detect it, a gentle wind wrapped around me and I was being teleported elsewhere. But there was only silence in me, not even the beating of my heart sounded. I didn't care if I was going somewhere else, right now I didn't care about anything and maybe I won't care for anything any longer.

We landed on wooden floorboards; they were so shiny I could make out my own reflection. My chocolate hair was dull as if its usual flare was put out. My eyes were glassy, and my face was drawn. We were in Rowan's living room, at his house. I had already explored this place; my brother and I came here every winter. My brother; an emptiness echoed through me, the silence growing stronger in my head.

"How are you feeling?" Rowan said from behind me, but it the sound was indistinct and muffled like I was slowly drifting away from reality.

Good. I didn't want to be here anymore.

My vision was going hazy and dark spots began appearing, I swayed and closed my eyes, wondering if not looking, would stop everything. And it did.
