Grayson's POV:

It was the day of the meeting and ball, a slip of card in my hand as I stared at the cursive gold writing - You and your circle have formally been invited to the Dragon Ball, where the meeting will also take place.

My mind was whirling thinking of possibilities of what could go down, what I could not be seeing because there was definitely something; something was going to happen. But to my eternal frustration, I couldn't think of anything.

My thoughts went to Lua when I gave up trying to figure out what the Dragon's were hiding from us. She had decided to head into the town close by, asking to be accompanied by Nora to help with her way around, to my slight shock, to find something to wear for the ball. I was surprised Lua could even stand to be near her, let alone go shopping with her, but I wasn't so surprised that Nora had said yes. Nora had sworn an oath of loyalty to the crown, to my reign and finding out that Lua was my mate, my equal in every way, the oath of loyalty fell onto her too. Nora valued that oath more than her irritation towards Lua; it was why I had let her into the circle in the first place because I knew she had her true priorities straight.

I looked around our empty room, wishing that Lua would hurry up with her shopping spree and come back already; I was already craving for her presence, her scent and warmth. It was strange how I couldn't imagine the time where she wasn't there, and I didn't want to. I didn't want to imagine a future where she wasn't here with me and if anything happened, I would rip the world apart with my bare hands to make sure she was by my side. And it terrified me slightly. It terrified me what I would do for her.

"Grayson," Azule's voice called from the hallway, "I can practically hear your brooding thoughts from here; let's go train before we get ready,"

I didn't know whether to laugh or punch his face in as I rose to go join him in the courtyard.

I was covered in sweat when I trudged back into our room, wanting nothing more than to step into a hot shower and let the water ease my moderately aching muscles. I hadn't realised Azule had an entire training camp routine planned out and all to be done in the span of around three hours. But we managed to get it done, and Azule somehow still had a whole load of energy left. Claimed he could do that all again in less than two hours this time, but I waved him off, not wanting to bathe in sweat anymore.

As I finished my shower, a towel draped around my hips, and my hand ruffling through my damp hair; I felt Lua's presence enter the house and my heart instantly felt lighter, needing her close.

She didn't waste any time, heading straight here, and opening the door; a couple of bags in her hand; her cheeks flushed pink from the cold weather outside. She surveyed the room and found me leaning on the bathroom door, watching with amusement as she went still, her eyes travelling down to my bare upper body, stopping at the towel; her gaze going darker before blinking back to normal.

"I- uh, am back," she said, lifting her bags before stepping in and closing the door behind her.

"What did you get?" I asked, my body moving towards her, craving her touch. She placed the bags down and turned towards me, and I tried to remember how to breathe again, as a radiant grin flashed on her face, saying -

"It's a secret,"

Her arms slithered around my waist, as my hands cupped her jaw, pressing a kiss to her lips; her body instinctively leaning closer. But then she pushed away, a teasing smirk on her face, as she picked up her bags and began walking towards the bathroom - "I need to get ready, I have a lot to do," she said, dragging the last word into a sing-song. I grumbled to myself as I glanced towards the clock, ignoring how cold my body felt now. We had less than five hours before we needed to leave for the ball/meeting.
