Azule's POV:

"Where were you?" I asked, my hands close to my daggers, as I kept an eye out for anything suspicious, even as most of my mind was occupied by the female in front of me. Macaria moved so silently and smoothly, it was like she wasn't walking at all, but merely gliding through the shadows; her bright blue eyes glowing slightly as they glanced at me before sliding back to the corridor in front of her.

"I had business to deal with," Her words vague as always, the exact same Melione had told me a couple of days ago; it was almost like they shared the same mind. Most people would find it frustrating how secretive she was, but I couldn't help being attracted to her and her discreet persona. She was a challenge, a mystery to solve; completely different to any other females I ever came across.

"No shit." I muttered, not missing the way her lips twitched slightly upwards. "Tell me more," I pushed.

"It doesn't concern you Azule," The way she said my name was like a stroke of silk against a knife.

"That may be true. But that doesn't mean I don't want to know,"

She paused abruptly, her blonde locks swaying almost as if caught on a breeze and there were no traces of winds in this corridor. I purposefully slowed down my reaction, stopping so that I was a breath away from her. Her gaze burned brighter, and she didn't back down.

"You don't need to know,"

"That's never stopped me before,"

She rolled her eyes, "Stop pushing for answers you're not going to get,"

I sensed someone coming through the hallway, and didn't hesitate to slip my hand into hers as I brought them upwards and in front of our faces, surprised she didn't snatch it back, the pads of our fingers barely touching; but the sparks were still there, the extra rush of adrenaline at merely the slightest of contact. A section of black curls fell onto my forehead as I leaned closer, a breath away from her face - "No, you stop pushing," I whispered, "You can't deny the attraction,"

It was obvious, from the way her pupils flared, the way almost unseeable goosebumps ran along her pale arm. I noticed it all and more, and I wouldn't deny that I wanted her. Nevertheless, I felt the presence of the male pass us, his armour surprisingly silent as he walked past us, not giving us a second glance.

I pushed off the wall and began to trail the guard, who had the message the Dragon king had whispered to him, I felt Macaria's wraith-like shadow join me a couple of seconds later. The guard continued on, oblivious to us behind him; until he reached a door that led into a balcony. I knew there was no hiding us there if we went in after him. Before I could think of something, Macaria moved like the wind, whizzing in front of me to stop the door, inches before it would have closed. All of it done in complete and utter silence. She pressed her face closer to the gap, and I quickly followed suit, honing most of my attention to the conversation outside, the rest spread out like a web around us; to make sure we weren't surprised by any unwanted people.

"It's time," the male guard muttered, but the gap was too small for us to see who he was talking to.

"Grayson and his circle of idiots are here?" It was another males voice, someone I didn't recognise. My temper flared at the blatant disrespect but I would indeed be the idiot he claimed we were if I had barged out.

"They just arrived. Would you like me to inform everyone to get into position,"

"They already are, they just need the word to commence."

I frowned in confusion. Commence what?

"She'll be with us in no time at all,"

Who was she?
