Lua's POV:

My stomach was filled with fluttering butterflies, when we pulled away from each other, Gray leaning in to rest his forehead on mine, our hard breaths mingling together.

"Azule and Nora are returning home. They have kept the rogue captive in the room for the time being,"

I looked down, a hint of shame and embarrassment misting my thoughts; it was because of me and my stupid terror that they couldn't handle this as quickly as they should and probably wanted to. For a second, I felt like I was nothing but dead weight.

I felt Gray pull back, then cup my chin with his fingers so I was looking at his face. "You have nothing to be ashamed about," his voice had a hardness to it, that left no room for contradicting. "Everyone has their moments,"

"You guys can do it without me if you want,"

He smirked, his hands leaving my face, as he stood - "I want you there - to revel at my power and cruelty."

I turned so my legs were dangling off my bed, as I watched him comb through his now very messy hair with his fingers - "Some would think showing cruelty isn't the best way to impress someone. It might scare them away,"

His eyes were sparkling, as he drawled -  "I wouldn't think so since the person I'm trying to impress is a lot crueller than I am,"

My mouth twisted into an involuntary grin, "I have no idea what you're talking about,"

"When I found out that the lost daughter of the Moon had been found, I went to go see you for myself - "

"I was nothing but civil to you when you came to see me,"

"And who said those were the only times I had come to see you."

What.

"I don't know if I should be creeped out or flattered,"

A deep laugh erupted out of Grayson, and I tried not to let on just how much the sound affected me. But listening to it, instantly erupted something warm within me and I could perhaps have listened to it forever.

"I guess you could say, I couldn't stay away,"

"And what exactly did you see?"

Grayson's eyes were glittering at the memory, at whatever he had seen; and then he lifted a finger pressing it gently against my forehead. In a second, I was whisked into his mind, into his cloud of thoughts and emotions.

But then I saw myself, in Rowan's house with Lykos in front of me, and my fingers gripping his tongue, a merciless look morphing my features. Ice had spread across his tongue, and if I had willed it, I realised I could have shattered his only way of speaking to nothing but smithereens. The fear that enveloped in Lykos's eyes, was almost something to laugh at as I growled in his face about something.

"That looks pretty cruel to me," Grayson's voice filled my head and then I was out of his when his finger lost contact with my forehead.

"I was pretty cruel back then,"

"Still seem pretty cruel to me now," he shot back, and our eyes locked in a silent battle of wills.

"Be grateful you didn't declare the mating bond to me then; I would've probably ripped your balls off," I snapped.

His nostrils flared as if he was imagining the sensation and I smirked, "I'm half as cruel as I was back then," And I remembered the emotions I had felt every second, the void that had grown in me, "It was like a coping mechanism," I mused, thinking back to how I relished at the pain I caused; wanting them to feel what I did.
