"i thought i'd be done with waking up at six whenever i dropped out of college." i grumbled as the alarm to get the kids up for school went off.
though the kids were old enough to get themselves up for school, me and billie still woke them up because we liked to see them in the mornings before they left.
"you've said this every morning since jackson started kindergarten." billie mumbled sleepily.
"and i mean it every time."
i sighed as i bent down to kiss her forehead. "you stay in bed, princess, i've got it. you were up late as hell last night."
she had started some new show and is obsessed with it. she was probably up until three in the morning watching it.
"thank you." she gave a soft smile.
"no problem." i yawned as i walked out of our room.
i knocked on jackson's door. i could hear him still snoring, so i walked in.
"yo, get your ass up." i told him as i turned the lights on.
he groaned lowly. "i don't wanna."
"too bad. i'm going to get the twins up, you best start getting ready for school."
he sat up, rubbing at his eyes. i then walked to iris's room. i knocked on the door, my brows raising as she called out "come in!"
i opened the door, seeing that she was sitting at her vanity, brushing through her hair. i saw that she had a light coat of makeup on, and i tilted my head.
"well, good morning, pretty girl," i smiled. "why are you up so early?"
"'cause." she shrugged.
"you tryna impress someone?" i teased.
"well, there's this one boy..." she trailed off.
"a b-boy?" my face paled.
"yes, momma." she chuckled.
"but— but what about women? iris, i don't know anything about dating boys! y-you can't date boys. hell, you're fourteen! you shouldn't be worried about impressing anybody anyways! i was kidding when i asked that!" i panicked.
