Dick/ Robin's POV

The three weeks after the day Scarlett and I had lunch in the oak tree in the corner of the school property for the fist time, I invited her to the charity dinner Bruce was hosting at Wayne Manor. It was lunchtime, and we were sitting in the Tree, when I said-

"Scarlett?"

"Yeah?"

"Have you ever wanted to see Wayne Manor?"

"Sure." She said in a flat voice. "I hadn't really given it much thought."

"Because Bruce is hosting a charity dinner at our place this Friday night. I was wondering if you wanted to come."

Scarlett raised her reddish-gold eyebrows.

"Really?" She asked.

"Yeah." I replied. "Though, it's going to be a pretty formal thing. I recommend a black dress. It's black-tie."

"Cool. What time do you think it'll end at?"

"Oh, I dunno. Probably, eleven or twelve-ish." So that Bruce and I don't have to leave early for crime-fighting, but I didn't say so.

"How formal is formal?"

"Lots of spoons and forks on the table." I joked, and Scarlett laughed. "Relatively formal. There'll be a dance with a fancy string quartet and all that jazz. Kinda like you see in the movies."

"I could probably swing it." said Scarlett, thinking.

"Cool." I murmured, taking a bite of my sandwich. "Do you have a phone?" Scarlett nodded and handed it to me. I quickly programmed my cellphone number and our house number into her device. "Here." I said as I put the device, clad in a purple case, back into her fair hand. At the end of the day, Alfred came and got me, as per usual. When I got into the mansion, I located Bruce to tell him I'd invited Scarlett.

"I invited Scarlett to the charity dinner." I had said.

"Okay." said Bruce, writing something on a form-looking paper. He obviously didn't care or was too wrapped up in his work. About an hour later the phone rang. Alfred answered it, and he called me down as it was for me. I knew it was Scarlett, because I had next to no other friends.

"Hello?"

"Hey Dick."

"Hi Scarlett." I replied. "What's up?"

"I can come to the dinner on Friday."

"Cool." Was all I said.

"What should I wear?"

"A black dress, hair up..." I started. "I dunno. Something like that."

"What time should I come? I can get my dad-"

"No, Alfred and I will come get you, at around seven, I think. Where do you live?" I cut her off. I was determined to give her the full royal experience. She gave me the address and asked-

"Who's Alfred?"

"Our butler."

"Okay." She said, sounding nervous. "I guess I'll see you tomorrow."

"Hey-" I started. "It's gonna be fun."

"Yeah." Then she hung up. I raised my eyebrows, surprised and a little confused at the last bit of our conversation.

"Girl trouble, Master Dick?" Alfred said softly.

"Nah," I started, putting the phone back on the receiver. "My friend Scarlett is coming to the charity dinner on Friday and I think she's nervous about it. She kinda sorta hung up on me."
