He entered the elevator and descended to the lowest level of the Special Mission Force headquarters.

He approached a large room with nothing inside but a large neat looking desk.

A man sat at the desk in full military regalia.

"Sir."

"It has been awhile Colonel Burton. I know that you just returned from the Amazon and you should be off on leave, but I am sure you are aware of the incident this afternoon in the lab. Our scientists have been conducting research on zombies. Apparently there was a mishap with the injected reagents and the zombie was able to break its restraints." Gordon's set his hands on his desk and threaded his fingers together, looking up at the men standing in front of him.

Heine Burton's face was impassive, nothing disturbed the lines of his face. His oppressive silence eventually tires out Gordon and he rubs at his temples.

"There were four researchers present at the time of the incident. After obtaining their statement, they concluded the issue was the reagents. Heine, what do you think of this?"

"The system was invaded and the terminal settings were altered, bypassing the security clearance of the four researchers."

"This person seems quite cunning, what do you suppose is the purpose of releasing the zombie?"

"Create confusion and chaos."

"What is the purpose of creating chaos?"

"Could it be Something regarding the x-virus research results?"

"All x-virus research results have been encrypted."

"What about Xiao Yan?"

The man at the desk stilled and then blinked strangely. He laughed lightly, "It is very unusual for you to remember a name of a researcher. Yes, his project is also related to the x-virus. It is too early in the project for any marked progress."

"But you have published his proposal. The system will need to be checked to see if it has been invaded and any of his data compromised. There could be someone keeping a close eye on his project. The level of security provided for him should be increased as well."

"But you have disclosed his research project. It's better to check whether his system was invaded during the chaos. Perhaps someone is watching his progress. The level of security for him should also be improved."

Heine's expression is still cold and indifferent, but his icy blue eyes flash with an unusual obsession.

"Well, Don't forget that his is under the supervision of Colonel Jane Wallace." Major General Gordon paused as he thought of something. He quickly added another sentence. "Rest assured, he will not cut off Xiao Yan's nose."

Heine turned to exist the door.

"Ah! I am not done talking with you. Slow down you are walking too fast."

Heine stopped abruptly.

"I need you to obtain authorization from the Central Academy of Sciences and enter Xiao Yan's research system."

Gordon gave a tilted smile, "It's rare for you to be so concerned about another person."

Under the soft lighting of the restaurant Jane's face has shifted its countenance entirely. The teasing mockery that moved his brows and twisted his mouth was replaced with a handsome refinement. Even his movements are different. His hands and wrists moved and angled with elegant grace.

"Taste this one, it's definitely different from what you've eaten at the institute restaurant."

Jane cut a small piece of steak and placed it on Xiao Yan's plate. When he looked up, he realized that Xiao Yan was watching him.
