spring was always the same for you, the cherry blossoms would bloom, and leave pastel pink petals lightly flying in the air and landing onto the ground. spring also meant valentines day, the day of love that most people looked forward to.

you walked alone in a sea of cherry blossom trees, and couples who were hand in hand. you've never minded the sweet, lovey-dovey atmosphere of valentines day, despite being a single high schooler. you found it rather amusing even. getting to see everyone's happiness and the smiles on their faces truly brought warmth to your heart.

'(y/n)-san,' a familiar voice called out to you, 'could i have a moment of your time please?'

akaashi keiji's voice was as soothing as you always remembered, it was able to calm you down, make you laugh, cry, and most importantly make your heart tremble like an earthquake. with a light blush tinted on your cheeks, you turned around to greet the male.

'morning kaashi!' you flashed a smile at him. as a result of akaashi losing eye contact with you, your gaze slowly trailed to the cherry blossoms messily scattered on the pavement.

'the cherry blossoms are more pink than usual this year, don't you think?'

'maybe it decided to be more vibrant just for today since it's valentines day.' you giggled.

it was valentines day after all. you couldn't help but wonder what would happen if you revealed your feelings for the apathetic male. would he care? would your feelings be requited? of course, you knew deep down that there was only one option; to confess.

'hey aka-'

'i'm very sorry to interrupt you (y/n)-san,' akaashi upsettingly cuts you off, 'this is very important and it's best if i say it now.'

'oh,' you sighed, but you still made sure to not show your disappointment, 'of course.'

'please meet me under this cherry blossom tree after period one... if that's okay with you.'

and with that, the bell indicating that school had commenced rang.

you couldn't help but worry about what akaashi had to say. he seemed visibly distressed, which wasn't like the akaashi keiji you've known at all.

maybe it's something serious

you hurried down the steps and made your way to the tree where you'd agreed to meet with akaashi. and as expected, you saw the male waiting patiently underneath the shower of pink petals.

akaashi lifted his gaze to see you jogging towards him in a rush.

'i'm so sorry, the teacher kept me in for a bit.' you desperately gasped for air, 'i hope that there's still time.'

akaashi kept quiet, which made you more curious. he had an uneasy expression displayed on his usual apathetic face, and a hint of slight doubt and hesitancy that you've never seen before.

'i like you, (y/n).' he simply announced.

you swore that his instense gaze was already enough to take your breath away, but what had just been said definitely made your heart stop beating. akaashi keiji just confessed his feelings to you.

'will you be mine?'

you felt so many emotions ghosting through you, and so many different shades of colour running up to your face.

'i like you too, akaashi.' you blurted out.

an unexpected breeze blew past you and akaashi, causing more cherry blossoms to fall around you and akaashi. he gently tucks the lose strands of hair back behind your ear, and lightly smiled as he shifted his hands to cup your face.

'see? even the cherry blossoms agree that you were meant for me.'
