'(y/n)-senpai, why are you so scared of tendou-senpai?' kawanishi questions you as you both walk to coach washijo's office. you were helping him carry the coach's paperworks.

'i'm not scared of him kawanishi. he just gives me an uneasy feeling.' you spoke back, 'i never know what he's thinking, that's what makes him intimidating.'

'i feel like the fact that we don't know what he's thinking about is what makes him interesting. the 'intimidating' person you should be scared of is ushijima-senpai.' he shivers as ushijima's name came up. you giggled at your kouhai, 'toosh toosh is a bean, you shouldn't be scared of him.'

you both finally reached the office.

'senpai, if you're brave enough to call ushijima-senpai 'toosh toosh', pleasedon'ttellhimicalledhimthat, you really shouldn't be scared to talk to tendou-senpai.' kawanishi said before he disappeared through the doors of the office.

you thought about what kawanishi said on your way back to the gym. volleyball practice was going to start in 20 minutes.

standing outside the gym, you could hear the boy's yelling and the sound of volleyballs smashing against the wooden floor.

'nice block tendou!'

'semi semi, nice serve!'

all eight members of the team turned to you as you stepped inside.

'uh h-hey guys.' you greeted them with a weak smile, 'continue with your practice i guess.'

'what's up?'

'hey (y/n)-chan.'

'good afternoon (y/n)-san.'

'hey bitch.'

you glared at the person who said the last phrase. not a surprise that it was semi. 'shut up you marshmallow.' you rolled your eyes at him, earning laughter from the rest of the team.

then they turned back to their practice and continued. moments later a couple of the boys took a break, there was only ushijima, goshiki, shirabu and yamagata left on the court. that meant they'll be playing a 2v2, and that also meant that tendou is off and he'll probably start talking to you.

talking about the devil- come on now (y/n)! don't be afraid, he's not scary!

'hey tendou!' you smiled, 'what's up?'

'nothing, i just wanted to sit with you.'

five minutes past and he hasn't said a single thing to you. you decided to be brave for once and speak up first.

'um so, how's school going?'

he turned to you and his eyes widen in surprise. tendou didn't expect you to speak to him first. he knew you were shy and introverted and the only people on the team that you were friends with were semi and kawanishi. he didn't even dare think about the 'friends' you had other than the two boys mentioned before.

honestly, his eyes were scaring you a bit but you just tried to focus on other features of his face instead to stop yourself from cracking.
