You had developed a friendship with Taylor back when you were both attending the same high school and met in the same class, getting to sit next to each other.
Throughout your friendship with Taylor, it didn't take long for Taylor to start devolving feelings for you. Taylor hated to admit to the fact that she was scared to speak up and confess because of how unsure she was on how you felt, if you liked her in the same way or just in a friendship way.
Despite the friendship, you often sat at different tables in the cafeteria during the lunch period and for that, you had no idea that Taylor was getting bullied real bad by classmates. It wasn't until you both had been paired to work on a project together, the very project that was the project of the entire school year, the one that would take a huge chunk of your grade away if failed. When you were both assigned to work together, Taylor's feelings for you had grown stronger for you during that time.
The time given to have this completed was two months, so every weekend was spent at each other's homes. You both got to know each other better and learning that Taylor grew up on a Christmas tree farm, you thought was the coolest thing ever. One day while working in her room, you spotted her guitar stashed away in the corner near her bed and asked if she played.
"Actually, I do." she responds shyly.
"May I have a demonstration?"
At first, Taylor was going to decline and say no, but seeing the look on your eyes changed her mind and started performing.
For a brief moment, Taylor was the performer and you were her audience, smiling as she played the song she'd written before moving from Reading, Pennsylvania to Nashville, Tennessee. The performance made you happy seeing that, made Taylor happy and since you were the first to have appreciated her talent, she decided to show you a few notes on the guitar since you didn't know the stringed instrument. The more time spent with you, the more Taylor found herself a happier person. The more time spent with you, the more Taylor realizes and recognizes she has fallen in love with you.
Taylor also knows that she could tell you anything without having a single worry about you judging her for it. Only this time, Taylor couldn't form the right words to make the confession, so she turns to what she knows best, music. As a result of using music as a source, she ends up writing a song about her love for you and because she was nervous to perform it in person, she decided to wait for the school talent show. Only a few of her loyal friends know of how she felt about you, and when she had started having thoughts about pulling out of the talent show, her friends encouraged her while pushing her into keeping her commitment to it.
Taylor was glad she had listened, because it all worked out in her favor. What Taylor didn't know was that you did in fact, had fallen in love with her as well. You had front row, and cheered for Taylor when it was her turn to take the stage and all you had to say about her song at first was that it was beautiful.
The song was beautiful.
"This song is called Our Song." she announced.
As the song was being played, you hadn't a clue that it was about Taylor's love for you until a certain line was released into the microphone she was holding.
"Our song is the way you laugh..."
You couldn't help but feel your cheeks flush as you feel flattered and shy at the same time. Almost immediately after of hearing that line, it struck that Taylor had written this song about the both of you.
That had to be it, right?
If this was all just your wishful thinking, you would have never felt so foolish in your life.
This was a huge accomplishment for Taylor, being able to confess her love for you through music, there's no better way in the world to tell someone your feelings for them. This was Taylor's way and now it was your turn to confess, so you wait until after the show as you follow Taylor back outside to her parked car. Not knowing you were there, your presence startled her a bit but she relaxed when Taylor saw that it was you. Taylor suddenly felt shy as her gut was telling her what this was going to be about, and her gut instinct was right.
"Listen, (Y/n).." she begins, but you don't let her finish.
Instead, you get closer to her and start confessing your own love for her. Hearing that made Taylor the happiest she's ever had been in a while.
"I like- I love you too, Taylor."
You were still a little shy but the both of you slowly leaned in, closing what was left of the gap in with a kiss.
This was your first kiss, your first kiss was shared in the parking lot of your high school, the same school you both attended. It couldn't have been anymore wonderful as it was in the moment.
This was the moment you both knew you were meant to be together, and you wouldn't have it any other way.
