"(y/n), if you're not going to be attending my shows or home alone anytime soon, you should at least give me a helping hand and do the dishes or something."

It's true that you've promised Taylor you'd help her out on keeping up with housework while she was at the studio, but you haven't been feeling quite well lately.

When Taylor had come home to find the shared home still a mess, she was not very happy to say the least. First she found you right where she left you earlier that day, on the couch covered in blankets. You weren't sure what was going on, all you knew you were sick with something and you had almost no energy to do anything, not even talk.

"I'm sorry, Taylor.." you try to apologize, but for now, she doesn't accept.

"I work hard all day and I come home to the house still a mess. You know, (Y/n), it's very discouraging having to come home to this. Somethings got to change."

Taylor's words stung as they also put a lump in your throat.

You don't mean to make Taylor feel this way, and wanted to make it up to her. Taylor has to work again the following day and you'd be left home. Since you took the last few days to rest, you thought you might feel better the next day, to feel good enough to get things done.

"I know, I just wasn't feeling good today. But I will feel better tomorrow, can it wait until than?"

Taylor doesn't say anything, rather she softly scoffs and walks away to your shared bedroom.

You couldn't help but feel even worse than you already do. The thing you don't know is that you're running a high fever and after the lecture Taylor scolds you with about being lazy, adrenaline rush was giving you the feeling of wanting to nothing else but get things done now to try and make Taylor happy and to make this up to her. It's been a little over an hour since the lecture, and Taylor begins making her way back to you and when she does, she can clearly hear the water from the sink running and dishes clinking, indicating to her that the dishes were being done.

Normally Taylor would be incredibly grateful for your services, but it made her feel guilty and like she was a bad girlfriend for scolding you instead of taking care of you, believing that you were really sick. Once taylor approaches you, you suddenly become very dizzy and couldn't see straight. Taylor notices that something's up when you start wobbling as you stand, and to her shock, she watches as you collapse to the floor below you before running over to help. From the first touch, Taylor felt the symptoms of a high fever just by the touch of your skin on her hand and she grew concerned. Unsure of what to do, Taylor shuts the water off and decides to take you to the hospital.

Taylor knows you hate hospitals, but she didn't know what was going on or what was causing the fever, which means she doesn't know how else to possibly help you and that scared the hell out of her like it would anyone.

Later that night, you woke up in your hospital bed and gown. Taylor was sitting by your side, she never left. However, while you were out, Selena and Olivia had stopped by to help Taylor out and comfort her during this time. She admits to them that she can't help but feel like this is her fault for not listening to you in the first place, but they wouldn't blame her and neither would you. As you awoke, Taylor had her hand gently wrapped in yours as she had fallen asleep in the chair beside you. Waking up to unfamiliar surroundings was quite confusing and slightly frightening, you wanted to know so you go to ask Taylor first.

"Taylor?" you ask, you held her wrist and shook her arm a bit and that was all it took to wake her up.

Taylor had never felt so relieved.

"Where are we?" you ask.

"We're in the hospital, honey."

"What's going on? When can we go home?"

"You're sick with a fever and we aren't sure why, and we can't go home until they discharge you."

Although you hated hospitals, you felt lucky to be going home after just a couple of nights while others there aren't as lucky.

You still had a little bit of that fever, but not nearly as bad. They still haven't found the cause of it, either and that's going to drive both you and Taylor crazy by not knowing. The way home was long, it was like taking the long way home, or the yellow brick road leading you home. During the ride, Taylor wouldn't stop apologizing about not believing you were sick in the beginning and you countlessly reassured her that everything is okay and she is forgiven. Taylor felt so lucky to have you, though she didn't feel like she deserved you, she also couldn't quite put her finger on what she did to have you in her life.

"I don't know what I did to deserve you." she says, holding your hand.

"Nothing special, you don't or ever have to anything for something like that, Taylor."

The rest of the ride home wasn't so bad as you thought it might.
