You were just stepping into the elevator of your apartment building when you grabbed the doors to hold it open for someone else at the last minute they called.

"Wait!"

It was your neighbor, Taylor.

Taylor was a lot of things, sure she had many great qualities and talents about her, but you've met her a few times before and she was nothing but rude and arrogant to you. All you wanted was for it to stop, for it to end, she knew how to push all the right buttons to really get under your skin and that wasn't very appreciative. There are days where you've seen her talking to the other neighbors and she was nice to them, she was nothing at all to them like she was to you and you want to know why.

In the beginning, you thought it would all be water under the bridge if you just ignored her if she walked by. But she made that impossible for you and things between you got worse than any better. You could only think to yourself this was just a quick elevator ride and you would go your separate ways, so you remained silent when she stepped in next to you. Right as you were going down, Taylor scoffs which caused you to look over at her a brief moment.

"Oh, it's you."

You don't say anything and she presses on, trying to pick a fight with you yet again.

"What's wrong? Can't talk? Cat got your tongue?"

Before you could respond, something goes wrong.

You felt the elevator jolt for a split second before coming to stop. You knew right away that you both are now stuck in an elevator and there was no way out until rescue comes to you. This was the last thing you needed. Only the people closest to you know that you suffer from severe claustrophobia, and although the elevator is not the tightest, smallest space in the world to be trapped in, you could feel the claustrophobia quickly settling in as you hit the call button to call for help. While help was on the way, Taylor finally seemed to be burned out of arrogance, as rescue they promised was taking their sweet time.

Despite the limited space, you distance yourself as far away as possible from Taylor, sitting on the floor with your face buried in your knees. You grew more tense by each minute that passed, time seemed still and nothing was making this any better. If anything, it was just getting worse, leading you to believe that worse was all it was going to be until something happened. Seeing the way you were seated on the floor, Taylor started feeling a bit concerned for you and started asking if you were okay.

"Hey, are you okay?"

Because of how quiet it had been the whole time, you thought it was a voice in your head.

But when you peeked, you see that it was Taylor asking you that. That was completely out of character, never once has she been even just a little nicer to you. Stunned, you could only shake your head 'no' in response. After getting your answer, you hear her draw nearer and feel her sitting next to you. A soft hand was placed on your shoulder, almost making you flinch.

"What's wrong?"

You couldn't believe how concerned Taylor sounded for you. This couldn't be real, but it was.

You were silent for a moment, unsure if you dared to tell her what was going on. The decision was made easy once she spoke up again.

"I'm serious, what's wrong?"

It was the seriousness in her tone that helped you to speak up. You were completely honest with her, telling her about your claustrophobia and you were soon surprised that Taylor started to actually try and take care of you.

This was a side of Taylor you wished to see more, she did everything she could to comfort you until help eventually arrived. When it did come, you almost dreaded it, thinking Taylor would be back to her old ways towards you once more. To your surprise, she invited you to go to a bar with her, it was a bar that had karaoke and you accepted.

"I was on my way to the bar for a drink, do you want to come?"

"Really?"

"Of course, my treat!"

"That's very sweet of you, Taylor. But you really don't have to."

"I know. But I want to. Please?"

"Okay. It's a Friday night so why not?"!

"Yay! Let's go!"

Even now, you couldn't believe that Taylor had just invited you to have a drink with her.

Scratch that.

You couldn't believe Taylor was trying to be nice to you. Not that you were complaining, it something different that you really liked. Maybe Taylor wasn't so bad after all.

Maybe Taylor is one of the best people to grow attached to.
