"If I said you had a beautiful body, would you hold it against me?" Emmett was being a flirt. He was telling me all sorts of cheesy pickup lines as we drove down the streets of Forks. I was quietly enjoying the scenery that I hadn't seen in over a year when he decided the radio wasn't enough entertainment for him.

"No." I shot him down, again. His grip on my thigh tightened slightly as I spoke but I ignored his teasing and continued to watch the trees as we passed them.

"If I swore you were an angel, would you treat me like the devil tonight?" It suddenly clicked in my head what he quoting and I smacked his arm as he boomed with laughter.

"I didn't even know you liked country music," I muttered.

"I don't, but that song just reminded me so much of you." He was being cheeky. But I couldn't fight the smile or blush from creeping onto my face. "Do you think she's pregnant?"

"Emmett, can vampires have babies?" I rolled my eyes.

"No." He answered.

"Then no, I don't think she's pregnant." I laughed. "They love each other, that's more than enough of a reason for them to get married." It was springtime and it was the perfect season for a wedding. This is probably why Alice chose it for Bella and Edward's nuptials. Emmett and I both left schools to be present for it and as the maid of honor, I had no choice.

"So since we love each other, we should get married." His tone was suggestive. I narrowed my eyes at him but the lack of smile on his face told me he wasn't kidding around.

"That's one heck of a proposal," I mumbled. I knew he was being serious, just like the other times we discussed our future. He wanted marriage and a family, as did I, but we both agreed to wait a while before making that step.

"I'm serious, we should get married." I knew how badly he wanted to get married. I felt the same way, but I wasn't about to accept a half-assed proposal.

"I'm not marrying you," I stated. I crossed my arms and he glanced away from the road to look at me. "Not until you propose the right way."

"What right way?" He was an idiot.

"Be romantic. I know you have it in you, so show me romance." I smiled at him. "Do that and I promise I'll say yes." I leaned over and kissed his cheek. His hand gave my thigh a gentle squeeze and I smiled widely at him. "And think about it, the better the proposal is, the better the reward." I kissed his cheek again and I felt his hand tense.

"You're such a tease." He mumbled. He shifted in his seat and I knew it was because of a certain problem he was having.

"Only when I have to be," I smirked.

We continued to drive down the long road until we finally pulled up to his house. The Cullen house still looked the same. The only thing that changed was the number of roses that decorated the front. Emmett and I stepped out of the car, him grabbing both of our suitcases.

"Alice sure does like roses." He muttered.

"I'd be careful, she could be anywhere." I giggled. It was true. The brunette fairy seemed to pop up anywhere, we learned that more than a few times.

"Let's go in." I let Emmett lead the way. He opened the front door and we were met with the sight of dozens of roses.

"She really does like roses." I gaped as I looked around at the abundance of white roses. She had small hints of lavender hydrangeas, but the white overwhelmed it all. We carefully passed the bouquets and walked up the stairs. Emmett placed our suitcases on the couch and he grabbed my hand before walking into the kitchen.

"I knew I'd find you in here," Emmett smirked at his family. Sitting around the table were his parents, siblings, and my sister.

"Welcome home guys." Dominic smiled at us. "So I heard that you saw the roses." He smirked.

"And the hydrangeas." I chuckled. "Bella, I didn't know you even liked roses." I tilted my head as I look at my sister. She rolled her eyes and shook her head.

"I don't." She sighed. "But Edward does." She pointed at the tall smirking boy to who she was engaged.

"So Clary, did you say yes?" Alice looked hopeful. I glared at Emmett before turning back to Alice's gleeful stare.

"No, I didn't." I deadpanned. Emmett had informed Alice that he planned on marrying me someday and she asks every time we talk if I had said yes to him. She wasn't aware of just how pathetic his proposals were.

"Why not?" She had a pout on her face and I almost felt bad.

"Because he's pathetic." I rolled my eyes and took a seat beside Esme. She smiled gently at me and gave my hand a small squeeze.

"He is standing over here you know," Emmett grumbled.

"Oh, I know." I teased him. "I said no because he hasn't asked me correctly." I smiled at Alice. "He asked me today, in the car. Well, it wasn't a question. His words were, 'Since we love each other, we should get married.'" I made my voice drop a few octaves as I mocked his voice.

"Emmett!" Rose and Alice both exclaimed. Emmett shrugged and sat beside me.

"What?" The girls rolled their eyes and chose to ignore him any further. The boys shook their heads and even they knew that he was in the wrong.

"Anyway, back to the menu. Bella, what did you want the main course to be?" Bella stared blankly at Alice. "Okay never mind." Alice jotted down something in her notebook before leaving the room.

"Is it that hard to pick out food?" Dominic asked.

"No." Bella sighed. "I'm just tired." She stood up and she and Edward bid their goodbyes. We all watched them leave the room, small smiles on their intertwined hands.

"The wedding had taken a toll on her." Esme sighed. "She's been more tired as of late."

"Bella never did like party planning. She's used to our Mom and I being the party planners." I looked down at the invitation laid out in front of me. Bella's name was neatly written on it and I smiled at it. My big sister was growing up.

"Well, it'll be okay." Esme smiled at me. "Are you hungry?"

"Starved." I chuckled. "I miss your cooking, my meals just haven't tasted the same." I frowned.

"Well, I've missed cooking for you." Esme smiled and began taking things out of the refrigerator.

"She's been hungry a lot lately. She eats more than she used to." Emmett laughed. "It's kind of funny. She was sick a few times and I told her it was because of all the food she would eat."

"You just called her fat." Dominic laughed.

"Well she doesn't look like it but she can hold more food than I probably could." Emmett chuckled. "And she eats the weirdest things sometimes."

"Sounds like Clary." Jasper chuckled.

The guys were having their conversation about my abnormally large appetite and I only was faintly listening. My eyes were focused on Esme as she worked but when I looked at Carlisle who had moved beside me, the expression he wore was enough for me to start worrying. Of course, my worrying caused a domino effect. Jasper snapped his head in my direction and stared at me as I tried to push my worries away. Dominic stopped laughing and Rosalie smiled widely at me. Emmett noticed just how quiet it had gotten and when he met my watery gaze, it was enough for him to stop smiling.

"Why don't we go have a look." Carlisle nudged me gently out of the chair and he guided me towards his office. As we walked out, my eyes stayed on Emmett. His eyes were closed, his fists clenched, and his mouth shut. Neither of us knew what was about to come out of my little check-up.
