When they were escorted back, Sokka was the only one who seemed casual and had once again started talking with one of the guards.

"Listen to me, Lee, this is a matter of life and death here. If you let your twelve-year-old daughter play with boys, next thing you know she is running away from home." Sokka said, with a grave tone in his voice. The way he spoke made it seem like he was talking to an old friend.

"You think so?" asked the guard, staring at the ground in thought.

"Lee, my dear friend, we have known each other for like... ten minutes. Do you think I would destroy our friendship?" Sokka said sincerely. "Don't listen to your wife, listen to me, your best friend. I think you should put the fear of God in those young boys and show them that your baby daughter isn't someone they can just go and talk to."

Katara wanted to say something but held herself back, so she didn't make the situation even worse.

"I think that is a little too much, they are-" Aang on the other hand didn't get the memo and tried to input his Avatar advice.

"Shut the hell up, prisoner!!" Yelled the guard.

"Yeah! Shut the hell up!" Sokka supported the guard.

"Whose side are you even on?" Katara stared at her brother strangely.

Sokka looked at her as if she was stupid. "On Lee's side of course. He is my best friend."

"I thought we were-" Aang once again tried to say something.

"Shut the hell up prisoner!"

"Don't talk unless you are spoken to, scum!" Sokka once again took the side of his best friend… which in this situation wasn't Aang.

"Thanks for having my back, Sokka." The guard was thankful for his friend.

Sokka smiled reassuringly. "This is what friends are for, Lee."

Katara had to listen to her brother and the guard talking about their lives. It didn't take long before they reached their prison… which was a very luxurious room?

"Anyway, this is for your guys to stay in, Momo is in charge," Sokka advised them as if he was part of the guard.

"What? Why are you speaking as if you are a part of them and won't be here?" Katara asked, even though she was annoyed at her brother she was also worried about Sokka and didn't want him to end up in a bad situation.

What if they took him to an interrogation room and tortured him? Katara's skin crawled just thinking about it, and her eyes sharpened, she wasn't a master waterbender. But she would fight for her family no matter what.

"Oh, Lee and the other guys invited me to go out drinking together, don't worry though I will return soon," said Sokka nonchalantly without a worry in the world. Katara's worldview cracked and her worry for him turned into equally powerful anger. And as the cherry on top, Sokka added. "Also we are going to beat up some kids. No one dares to play with my Goddaughter's heart."

Once again… he had once again gotten so close to the guards that they seemed almost like they had known each other since they were young men. In reality, they had known each other only until the walk down here. That was around fifteen to twenty minutes in which Sokka had converted them into friends.

-Sokka POV-

Spending time with people was a way to understand them.

Well, that was some bullshit excuse I will give Katara later on. In reality, I just wanted to go out and spend time with the people of Omashu and be alone a little bit. Katara and Aang were good people, but I was an introvert at heart. Spending time with people is a pain for me… metaphorically of course.
