Sreedevi

I can hear some giggling sounds and the door shutting sound after being pushed inside a room which feels like nothing but a World war ground. I turn around without looking anywhere and lock the door. I wipe the sweat beads on my forehead and gulp the lump in my throat before turning my body sideways.

No this is not happening.

The room is dimly lit and the bed is decorated with rose flowers. He is sitting leaning on the headrest scrolling on his mobile phone with a serious face. I wish the earth under me split into two and eat me. I take baby steps towards the bed keeping my gaze down holding on to the milk tumbler tightly.

"Ivlo naal ellathayum moodi vechuta.. Aana innaik paaru.. Oruthan unna mothama sapda poraan"

(All these days you have hid your body from everyone but today someone is going to eat you)

I close my eyes tightly when my brain replays Priya a fellow family friend's words.

He finally notices me and close his phone before sitting straight hanging his legs down. I stop when I reach before him and stand without knowing what to do. He slowly looks at me and takes the tumbler from my hand and keeps it on the side table.

He pats the space beside him indicating me to sit. I slowly sit beside him leaving some space between us.

My inner palm is sweating while my brain plays every possible dirty things.

He moves closer to me and wraps his arms around my waist squeezing it and pins me down the bed smooching my neck hardly.

"Sreedevi?"

His manly voice snaps me out of my trance.

"Haan?"

I looked sideways and found him few inches away from me. I release a huge breath and looks down my mehandi filled hands.

Shall I tell him? That I am never interested in these marriages and "family life"

What am I even doing here? Why should I even marry someone in the first place?

Why not?

I can hear some inner voice but I dont know the answer for that too. Now the biggest deal is -

What if he married me dreaming for a happy married life?

Poor guy!

Ooorla ethanayo nalla pasanga irunthum ipdi oru azhagana ponna enak poyi katti vechutangale.

(Why would they get this beautiful girl married to me when there are plenty of gentlemen out there)

She deserve someone better. I take a closer look at her appearance. She is wearing a pink saree with light green border along with minimal ornaments. She is lost in her thoughts. I call her gently and she snaps her head at me before fixing her gaze down again. I take a deep breath before talking.

"Sreedevi namma ipo thaa romba naal ka.. kazhich pesurom.. I know you are not ready for this marriage.. Neither am I... So nam..namma.. konjam slow va polam... We will start a life when we are ready for it"

(Sreedevi its been long since we even talked.. I know you are not ready for this marriage.. Neither am I.. So we would take this slow.. We will start a life when we are ready for it)

I release a huge breath after finishing. This must be the longest speech i have ever had with her. I look up at her face and could see her face visibly relaxing. I smile slightly feeling proud of how i could easily read her mind but my mind slaps me indicating that whatever I have said just now is nothing but a lie.

Eventhough, I have said I would take this slow, I have no idea if i am going to give any chances to this marriage.

My interest for marriage is long gone and I would have never complained if didn't get a girl.

I feel a bit peaceful as my mom wont be pestering me again with these marriage alliances.

I just feel bad for Sreedevi who is unfortunately my wife now. I have done a huge mistake by marrying a girl without any interest.

Shit

I never thought of it until now. I just wanted to shut my mom's mouth but now the biggest deal is -

What if she married me dreaming for a happy married life?

Poor girl!
