Aasia's POV

"Have you made your decision? It's been 2 days..." Hassan asked looking at the pond, avoiding eye contact.

I slowly nodded, even though he wasn't looking at me. "I...I..."

"What?!" he said turning to me, an eyebrow raised.

"Yes...I have.... I've made my decision." I said with a firm tone.

Hassan nodded and looked away...

After an intense silence, Hassan stood up and turned away.

"Hassan wait!" I screamed as he began to walk away.

Without turning around he replied, "Aasia, I get it, you don't want to marry me."

"But... but i didn't say that."

"No... but your silence did."

"That was not my intention!" I shouted desperately, standing up

Hassan finally turned around, "Then, what was?"

"Hassan, I...I decided to..." My voice shook, "Iacceptyourproposal"

"You what?" he asked with an amused smirk.

"I'm sure you heard me." I snapped, my once nervous feeling, replaced with anger.

"Nope... my  hearing aids are not switched on today."

"Then how are we having this conversation?"

"I... I lip read."

I rolled my eyes, and walked away, ignoring him.

"Aasia! Aasia wait!" His voice getting closer, until he was right in front of me, but I refused to meet his gaze.

"Come on! I was just joking! Aasia..."

I looked up imitating his irritating smirk. "I know."

He stepped back slightly bewildered "Were... were you just playing me?!" his voice is masked with shock.

"I  just beat you at your own game."

"Don't play the game unless you know all the rules." He said, turning with a wink.

"What's the fun in rules if you don't get to bend them."

He froze, mid step. But before he could respond I walked into the house.

As soon as my foot touched the door step, i heard Aunt Sadia's voice, "Aasia, is that you, dear?" She peaks out of the kitchen, "come help me carry the samoosas."

I half-ran to the kitchen eager to get away from Hassan.

"How was your 'chat'?"

I rolled my eyes, 'wow she is so subtle.' But i smiled "It was... good"

Aunt Sadia nodded, a smile on her face, "What was his reaction?"

I opened my mouth to reply, when we heard Hassan enter the kitchen. 'later.' I mouthed, before pulling my niqaab down,  and walking into the dining room.

I could feel Hassan's eyes on me as I put the plate of samoosas down. I smiled, satisfied, knowing that Hassan won't reply in front of his parents.

"Where's Hamza?" i asked looking around the table.

"Asleep in your room." Mammajee replied.

I nodded, wondering why he wasn't in the guest room.

"Because he refused to sleep 'anywhere but in Aasia's room'."

I felt a blush creeping up my face as I realised I'd spoken out loud.

I turned around, finding Hassan's smirk staring me in the face.

'Oh how I wish to slap that smirk off his face.'

"Try it."
