My phone rang, and I accepted the call without opening my eyes to hear my mother's booming voice over the phone. "Muthey endrikalaya nee innum? sikiram kulichi ready agi va. Amma unaku dress and accessories eduthu vachiruken."
"Amma mani enna agudhu?"
"Therila d 6 agapogudhakum."
"En amma ipdi sunrise aga munnadi elupi vitta function 10 maniku dhaney ma."
"Appa, Raghu kelambhitanga neum kelambhu po vandhu dress panitu kelambha nee late pannuva."
"Enta dress iruku na late ah endrichu correct a kelabhidren ma. Please ma innum konjam thunga vidu ma."
"Enna dress d ?"
"Saree."
"Yaru kati vidum?"
"Needha."
"Na kelambhiten d mandabham poga. 7 ku aparam neram nalla illa so adhuku munadi kelambhiduvom. Nee mandabham vandhu dress panniko, ippo poi kulichitu kelambhi va dress eduthutu."
"Sari ma."
After calling Jithu and getting no response, I went to take a shower and get ready. I wore a simple salwar suit and carried my saree and jewellery in a large tote bag. I went to the mandabham with Dada and Thatha.
Upon entering, everyone in my family greeted and hugged me, and my mother led me to a room on the second floor. Anni and Akka were already in the room, and the makeup artist was finishing up Anni.
I threw my bag on a cot in that room and lay down. My mother appeared within a few minutes and smacked me on the back.
"Endrichu blouse pavada make up ellam pottu ready agu d. Enaku konjam vela iruku mudichitu vandhu saree kati vidren."
Akka interrupted her. "Amma nee po na pathukuren. Illa Ramya ta solren katti viduva."
I changed into a skirt and blouse, put on my jewellery and makeup, and went back to sleep.
When someone lifted me, I jerked awake to see that it was Jithu. He lifted me and placed me in his lap. He began to leave kiss trails from my ears to my shoulders.
"Mama chumma iru enamo agudhu."
He continued kissing my back and neck, and I could feel his smile. "Nee epdi iruka nu theriuma? Pondati ipdi irundha oru ambhala epdi d chumma irukradhu."
"Sari door lock pannu."
"Nee poi panitu va, I am hard."
"So?"
"Pchh nee po poi panu, I want to see your backside."
When I moved a few feet away from him, near the door, he hugged me from behind and pushed me against the wall. He gently bit my back before turning me to face him.
"Back super ana front view va adichika mudiadhu d."
"Nee po akka varuva saree katti vida."
"Ava kayal kuda poiruka photo eduka. Camera man yen aalu. Na solra varaikum photo edupan."
"Plan panni dha vandhia."
"Ama avanga ponadha pathadhum oru immediate kutti plan."
He kissed me, and I started responding to him, forgetting that the door was still unlocked. He began frantically unhooking the buttons on my blouse. I moaned, "Mama venam matipom."
