When I finished correcting my dress, Saranya Aunty opened the door, followed by three other women her age. I recall speaking with all of them during Ramya's wedding. I knew they were Jithu's relatives, but nothing more. I also spoke with them this morning when I arrived at the mandabham and they inquired about me in general.

After a round of introductions, Vaidhegi Aunty smiled at me and sat beside me on the bed facing Jithu, while the rest of the group sat on the chairs and sofas nearby. It felt like my heart was in my throat, so I took deep breaths quietly to calm my racing heart.
