· You sighed, slumping down on the bench after wiping the snow off. You watched as your breath escaped from behind your scarf, drifting through the air, twisting and swirling being carried on by the wind. You leaned back, so loving giving our sore feet a much-needed break. You were tempted to take a nap right then and there, but you needed to get going. You simply looked to the dark sky, the speckles of white that drifted down, fluttering about. You stuffed your hands into your pockets, shivering. "What time is it anyway?" You hesitantly took out your phone. You glared down at those numbers. "So... twenty-nine hours straight?" You immediately regretted the decision feeling your whole body weighed down by that all-consuming exhaustion. "Alright... just a little farther to go." You slowly stretched before dragging yourself up, noticing some piled up snow falling off your lap and shoulders. "... how long was I sitting there?" Before you could take out your phone you shook your head, as if trying to get rid of the thought, knowing it'd only make you more tired. On shaky legs you trudged through the knee high snow, not wanting it to pile up any more, only making your journey all the more difficult.

· Never had you before felt your heart swell up seeing your apartment building. Just a few more paces and you'd be home. Upon entering your building though you hugged yourself, a chill worse than the outside swept through you. So, the heating broke, again. "I really need to move soon." At the very least you didn't have to keep dragging yourself through snow. You smashed the elevator button, leaning all your weight onto your hand. "Just... just a little longer." You desperately tried stifling a yawn, tears percolating in the corners of your eyes.

· As you entered your apartment you were confused, feeling something in the key dish you kept beside the door. "Oh." It was a key chain with a handful of keys attached to it, many scratched. You also felt something you thought you had forgotten, warmth. "Hey Gundham, what cha-" You yawned, kneeling down, slowly untying and removing your snow boots. "what cha' cooking?" "Ah, my dearest friend, so you've arrived from those chilled plains. I'm concocting an energy replenisher for my Zodiac Generals!" You really shouldn't be surprised, Gundham's train likely got snowed over or something so he couldn't get to his own apartment, you certainly knew you had done similar, just popping over to his place when you were exhausted and work took you to the edge of town, it was just closer which was nice. You mumbled an 'okay' as you threw yourself onto the couch.

· After taking the treats out and setting them on the rack to cool Gundham marched over to the couch, taking the blanket off the backrest and as he was about to drape it over you, he noticed something. Your feet. They were so red, for a moment he thought they were bleeding, in actuality they were just a bright red, covered in blisters and just so tender, hurting just feeling the air brush past. He looked up to you, seeing just how haggard you were.

· It was common for you to be exhausted from work, even just collapsing and falling asleep in his apartment should it be closer than yours from where your work was at the moment. He was strangely fond of seeing you there when he returned home, often his Generals cuddling with you. With how much energy your work took, he was glad to see you safe there and not asleep on some bench in a park or on a bus heading out of town, that... was certainly a frightening afternoon when you called Gundham in a panic, having no idea where you were.

· Though this time you looked much worse for wear, your breaths trembling, your voice lightly seeping out, almost silently whimpering. He slowly and gently removed your gloves, finding your hands were in the same state as your feet, even twitching in pain from just that. "H-hey don't look so worried." "No, that cannot be. You are one of my greatest companions in this mortal realm. Your health is a concern for me." "I-it's fine. Work'll be easier again when the snow melts." "And until then?" "... keep myself warm, it helps." "Well the heat that pulses through your domain had died and the little from the oven is fading fast." You simply pulled away, hugging your knees to your chest, your eyes already closed. You could hardly keep yourself awake any longer, it all was just so heavy. As he draped that heavy quilt over you, his heart began to race, a thought having entered his mind. Perhaps he could...

· Looking around the apartment one could see many framed photos of the pair of you together and your misadventures. You had been best friends for so long, Gundham could not even imagine how his life could have been without having met you. You had both taught another many things, and one you taught him was the importance of communication through touch. Though he was rather used to this by now, it still felt... special, frightening even. After all, he just felt so vulnerable to touch.

· He lifted up the quilt, laying beside you and embraced you tightly. "Hmm, Gundham?" "Huddled together I and my Zodiac Generals may protect you from the ice that has consumed this land, that which I am the Overlord of." "ah..." You snuggled into him, taking a deep breath, adoring the light sent of hay and berries. You hummed, loving how soft his clothing seemed to be. Moments later you were already asleep.

· ... Gundham knew you likely didn't think much of it but seeing how you just so easily fell asleep in his arms meant the world to him. You were willing to be vulnerable with him. Man do not follow many laws of nature that Gundham was intimately acquainted with, but... feeling his own eyes droop, glad that he trusted you too, that you were his best friend. "Rest well, my friend." He couldn't help but tense up for a moment, feeling you wrap your arms around him. "soft..." ... He also couldn't help but blush at your single unconscious word. 'soft'? The Over Lord of Ice is anything but 'soft'. Though... maybe such a person would be for his closest companions, those whom such a person would call family.
