Chapter 17

When my father came back and Alahna was within reach, I wanted to talk to him. "Dad?" I asked, "Can you please tell no one that Chris was here? Especially Alahna" I asked. "Yes Megan, but was he here all night?" Asked my dad. "Yeah, it wasn't planned" I said "okay, I'll keep your secret" he said "thanks dad" I smiled. "Call your sister and we'll go" my dad said. I went upstairs to Alahna and knocked on her door. "Hey, are you coming?" I asked and opened the door. "Yeah" she said, grabbed her backpack and walked downstairs with me.

I went to German class with Nick, Chris and Matt. We sit down, where is Rachel? Oh, here she comes. She waved at us and sat a few rows forward next to Jacob. Somehow it doesn't feel like we're best friends anymore, when did that go wrong? "Hey Megan, you really missed something yesterday" Nick said and leaned back to look over Matt and Chris "really, what?" I asked. "It was just the three of us yesterday, Chris had a date" Matt said. "Really, Chris had a date?" I said teasingly, nudging Chris' arm. "Haha, I didn't have a date, I was out with Dad" he said. "Chill, we're just kidding" Nick said. "Why weren't you with them yesterday?" Chris asked.
"I had to learn" I said. Funny how we both act like we don't know anything. The teacher came in and started his lesson, German class was actually always chill, including Mr. Murphy, I like him, he's a really cool teacher.

Time skip, next day, Friday night

Alahna and I arrived at the Sturniolos. They welcomed us and we prepared everything before Rachel comes. We decided to have a cozy evening, watch a movie together, eat pizza and snacks. What we always do, only with Rachel today. "Here you go" I said to Alahna and threw her a blanket. We wanted to be really comfortable. The doorbell rang "I'm on my way" said Matt and opened the door for Rachel. You could hear a quiet "Heyy" from downstairs, Rachel greeted him and then they came up the stairs. "Heyy" she said and hugged everyone once. We all sat on the sofa and talked about normal things. In between, I saw Rachel constantly smiling at Chris or giving him looks. Oh man, why am I so jealous? Would I still be happy if these two tried it together? No, I do not think so. I need him so bad. And I know it's wrong, especially because Rachel has liked him for so long. It hurts me so much to lie to her, she doesn't deserve this. I just hope Rachel wouldn't bring it up that she saw me at the fair the day before yesterday. And luckily for me, she didn't. "Megan, before I forget, there's a position available on the cheerleading team" Rachel asked. "Uhm I'll think about it, okay Rachel?" I said "yeah sure" she smiled, oh man I don't deserve her. "Why did one become available?" asked Alahna "Ava is moving away" she said "what Ava, from elementary school?" asked Alahna "yes, to Texas" "what brings her to Texas?" asked Chris. "Her mom is getting married, I think" Rachel said. Thanks to her cheerleading team, Rachel knows every tea, I don't even want to know how much shit is said in the locker rooms. "Texas is crazy" said Nick, "especially, her whole family lives here? As if her mother is leaving all this behind her and Ava is going with her too" I said "yeah right, she dated Jacob over the summer and she's just leaving him behind" "she dated Jacob?" I asked horrified, how could I missed that. "Yeah, didn't you know?" Rachel asked. "No, I didn't know" I said, resting my head in the palm of my hand.
"I had a huge crush on Ava in elementary school" said Matt, more random than ever, we all laughed "why didn't we know?" Chris laughed, "I forgot about it, it just came to my mind" he said. "Ava is a bitch" said Alahna „ohh yeah" I said agreeing with her, Rachel giggled. We never liked Ava, kinda an insider of ours and somehow everything felt okay again. When we finished our conversation, we turned on the movie and ate the pizza we had ordered earlier.

"Hey, you can keep looking, I'm going to the bathroom for a moment" said Rachel and climbed over me and Alahna. As she said, we continued watching, a few minutes passed, probably almost 10 minutes. Why is she taking so long? "Where is Rachel?" asked Matt "I don't know, I'll go check on her" I said and got up. I went to the bathroom door and knocked "Rachel? Is everything okay?" I asked worriedly. "Leave me alone, Megan" she said, completely tearful. "Rachel, what's wrong? Open the door" I said. I heard the door click, but instead of letting me in she stormed outside, past me. She went into the living room, picked up her things and said "Matt, Alahna and Nick, thanks, but I'm leaving now" I'm surprised that anyone could even understand her. I followed her. "Rachel, what's wrong?" I asked, wondering why she didn't include Chris. "What's wrong?" the others asked and stood up. She ran outside. "Wait here, I'll check on her" I said. I ran outside when she just hung up a call. "Rachel, what's wrong?" I asked. "You're still asking that Megan?" she said crying. Chris came after "what happened?" asked he. "Go away" she said to both of us. "Rachel, what's wrong, talk to us" I asked her. If I had known who Rachel was calling and would be here so quickly, I would never have continued talking. A few minutes passed, but enough for that one special person to come on time and hear everything. "Rachel now tell me what's wrong, I'm your best friend" I said "you're my best friend Megan? You think you're my best friend?" she shouted at me crying. "Yes Rachel" I said. "I didn't know my best friend was fucking Chris" she said and just burst into more tears. "What??" I screamed "I saw the top, it was yours, you posted a picture of it and it's in his room" she said. How could she see it, why was she in his room? "Why were you in my room?" Chris asked shocked. "I wasn't, I was looking for the bathroom and I opened the wrong door" she said. "How long has this been going on with you?" she asked calmly, but crying. "Rachel" I said, I couldn't continue talking. "How long Megan?" she asked "homecoming night" I said disappointed and ashamed of myself, her face dropped "but Rachel we never slept with each other" I said. "That doesn't make it better Megan" she cried. Suddenly I saw Tyler behind her "you're kidding." He said with a disappointed and disbelieving short laugh. "No, I'm sorry" I said. "The day before yesterday, when I saw you at the fair, were you there with him?" Rachel asked, looking at him when she mentioned Chris. Before we could answer, Tyler said, "Megan was there too? Of course she was there with him, I saw him." "You lied to me?" Rachel asked "I'm sorry okay, I know that doesn't make it better, but I'm sorry" I said. "But you can't only blame Megan for it" Chris said "I really liked you Chris" Rachel cried. "But you knew I didn't like you back that way" he said "I hate you Megan" she said. My heart dropped, I never thought it would hurt so much. She walked away crying, I just heard a car door slams around the corner. "You cheated on me? With him?" Tyler asked in horror. "I'm sorry" I said "I loved you Megan, why are you doing this to me?" He said, he was angry and his eyes glazed over. "I'm sorry Tyler, but I don't love you anymore" I said "but why are you cheating on me" he said "Tyler it wasn't planned, I shouldn't have lied to you" I said crying. "Tell me why you did it, tell me, I want to know everything" he asked me, "I was waiting for you in front of the changing rooms at homecoming, I saw Chris and we talked and I didn't know him before, he was just my sister's best friend and when they dropped us off at school every morning, I wanted to know who he was. So I kissed him and I'm so sorry." I said "I want to know everything Megan, say it" he screamed "Stop screaming" I said crying. "Speak, bitch" he shouted "Tyler enough" said Chris "you bastard" Tyler insulted Chris. "Tyler let me speak." I said. I looked at Chris, was it okay if I said everything private now? I owe it to Tyler. Chris nodded, he knew exactly what my look said. "That same night, Alahna and I stayed overnight with them. When everyone was asleep I wanted to apologize to Chris and nothing happen again, I promise, but I slept in the same bed with him, but not on purpose. On Monday his parents invited me and Alahna to dinner and Nick threw water on me and I changed my top in Chris' room." Before I could continue, Tyler interrupted me, "Was he there?" "No, yes, but he turned around" I said "unbelievable" Tyler said and shook his head. "and that night we kissed again... the next day you and I had this argument and when we were in the hospital we kissed again." I said "I had a weird feeling, the tension between you two It wasn't like you were just friends." "I know, I'm sorry. We were just friends, but then we went to this fair together and he stayed overnight at my place. I'm sorry for what I did Tyler" I said. "But why did you do all that Megan" "It didn't feel right between you and me anymore, I know that's no excuse, but I wanted to know who Chris was, I wanted to be close to him, I wanted to be with him. "I'm sorry, Tyler." I said. "Have you slept with each other Megan??" he asked. I looked shocked "no" I said and looked at Chris and then at Tyler. "Yes" I said. "When?" Tyler asks, he must really love me, his eyes filling with tears more and more. "the same night as the fair date" I said. "You lied to me" said Rachel standing there again out of nowhere. "I'm so disgusted" Tyler said. He turned around and walked to his car. "I hate you so much Megan" Rachel said and got into Tyler's car. Chris and I turned around, Nick, Alahna and Matt were standing in the doorway, listening to everything.
