In no time they reach the island which is popularly known as the Elephanta Caves. They had merely heard about it. As they step on the island, Ruhana jumps with happiness. The small island is surrounded by water on all four sides. Greenery all around the island is beautifying it and there are stone caves, which are situated at some distance from the seashore.
"Wow, It's so beautiful Vineet!!! Look around!" She says admiring the environment around her.
He smiles at her excitement. He knows that she has been very excited to come to Mumbai. He pulls her with himself where other students have gathered. There is a guide to take them around the island. She joins her friends and they are moving around. Ruhana is keenly listening to the guide. Her friend playfully hits her on her head. She looks back at her friend.
"What? Let me listen!!" she chides them.
Actually, she’s listening to the guide and staring at Vineet. She is not the kind of person to listen to the old stories, but today is another day. She wants to listen to the stories because Vineet is taking a keen interest in listening to the stories, and she wants to stay close to him. Her friend makes a face.
"No! That's super boring. Let's go somewhere else. " Her friend Shubhi insists.
"Noo...I want to listen!" she glances at her friend.
Her friends pout at her. She is more interested in listening the history, rather than strolling around. As the guide tells them, the cave island is divided into two different caves, the larger one is a group of five caves belonging to Lord Shiva and the smaller one is the Buddhist caves. The guide guided their way, Ruhana turns around to search for her friends and finds them walking towards the Buddhist caves. She rushes towards the Buddhist caves and finds her friends sitting out there on the stairs. She sits near them.
"What is it? Why are we here?" She asks Priyanka.
"We are here so that you can talk to us."Priyanka chides her.
"That’s what I am doing," she replies with a smile.
"No! You're not here. You're physically here, but mentally somewhere else." Shubhi speaks teasingly and winked at her.
Ruhana sighs deeply. She’s highly irked at the moment. She doesn’t like her friends teasing her. It’s not like that they are saying it wrong, but she doesn’t like it. There’s a reason that she can’t word her feelings to Vineet. She loves him, that is true, but she doesn’t know if he loves her. He is not the guy in his true sense. Sometimes, she feels that he doesn’t believe in love anymore. She sighs deeply at her thoughts.
"Ohh...not again! Can we just move out!" Ruhana replies irritatedly.
"What are you running from Ruhana? We know you like him! That is why you carefully listen to every word he speaks." Shubhi says.
Ruhana shakes her head. That’s true. And she is not running from it, rather, she is trying to maintain a distance. She wants him to be happy in the first place. She wants him to realize the love that he holds and the love that he has earned. She sighs as she can’t make her friends understand the same. They don’t know what Ruhana and Vineet are going through. They can never understand why she listens to him, why she obeys him? They are far away from the kind of relationship that she shares with Vineet.
"Okay fine! If that's the thing, then we will see it later, but for now can we move? Professors must be searching for us. " she says as she knows that Vineet will panic if he doesn’t find her around himself.
Priyanka nudges her teasingly.
."No no...not professors,Vineet must be waiting for you. Right?" she looks at Ruhana, who doesn’t reply to her.
"Your silence says everything. Even if you don’t agree. Now, lets go!" Shubhi says, holding her hand and the three friends move out.
Ruhana doesn’t reply to them. They can never understand her love and feelings for Vineet. Everyone scatter in various directions savouring the beauty of the island. Ruhana moves towards the shore and sits on the sand. She is playing with water and thinking about something. The words spoken by her friends are echoing in her head and she couldn't jerk them off.
Obviously, she is thinking about him. Vineet is always in her thoughts. She wants her best friend back. He has been her only friend since her childhood. From fulfilling every wish of her to saving her from her parents scolding, he has been with her and even now. So, is it more than friendship? What is it actually?
She knows it is more than love. But she can’t word his feelings for her best friend, for Vineet.
Her trance is broken with some drops of water. She closes and opens her eyes and looks up to find Vineet sitting beside her. She looks at him and before she could say anything, he says.
"What are you thinking?" he asks.
"Nothing!" she says looking into the water moving her hands into it.
"Really! Then what has made you so silent?" he asks looking at her.
She smiles, he knows everything about her. Her gestures, her actions always tell him her state of mind. Is it more than what friends do? She looks at him and their eyes met. She smiles lightly.
"You made me silent! It's all your fault." she says naughtily.
He looks at her and sighs. He knows she’s right. His silence has always affected her. Yet, he asks being unknown.
"What did I do?" he asks with a surprise in his voice and fear visible on his face.
She starts laughing looking at him. He is bewildered at her reaction. She controls herself and pulls his cheeks.
"Look at your face Vineet! You look so cute!" She says.
He looks at her with his all time serious look. She looks at him cutely.
"Okay okay, I am sorry! Now keep away this serious look. We're here to enjoy, right?" she looks at him.
He nods seriously. She sighs looking at him. She knows he’s back to his serious mode, and she will bring him back.
"Vineet, you remember, you promised me something. You'll be happy. At least for me." she says holding his hand.
He didn't say anything and suddenly he jerks his face as Ruhana sprinkles water on him and their usual chase begins again.
