Your POV

I was so excited. I was finally going on a date with Shawn Mendes, who happened to be my crush for the past three years. Apparently he liked me, too because he asked me to go to the movies with him. I was currently standing in front of my closet, wondering what to wear. I couldn't dress up too much because we were only going to the movies. But I also wanted to impress him.

I tried on a jean jacket with a few different shirts, but I decided I wanted to be a little fancier than a jean jacket, but it was September so I did need some kind of jacket. I kept digging through my closet until I found my leather jacket. I liked that, but I wasn't sure what to wear with it. Most of my T-shirts didn't look good with it. I kept looking, and then I found it. It was a purple dress (See picture above.) It was perfect. I glanced at the clock and saw that it was 5:30. Shawn said that he would be picking me up at 6. That gave me half an hour to fix my hair and do my makeup. I went to the bathroom and got out my curling iron (or flat iron, depending on your hair.) I plugged it in and let it heat for a few minutes. Then I carefully fixed my hair. I decided to leave most of it down but I braided a strand if it in the front and pinned it back with bobby pins. Then I moved on to makeup. I didn't want to go too heavy, so I mostly just put on basic accenting things. I put on a layer of mascara and some clear lip gloss. When I decided I looked good enough, I went back to my bedroom to get changed. I quickly put on the dress and jacket. I picked out a small black purse to bring and I put my phone, my wallet, and extra makeup in it. I decided to wear simple black flats and as I was walking down the stairs, ready to go, the doorbell rang. It had to be Shawn. I hurried to answer it and sure enough, Shawn was waiting on the other side with a bouquet of roses, wearing a casual gray shirt and black jeans. It was simple, but he looked really good.

"Hi," Shawn said with a smile. He offered me the roses. "I got these for you. I hope you like them... Or that you're not allergic. Please tell me you're not allergic."

I took the bouquet. "I'm not," I reassured him. "I love them. Thank you." I leaned in to smell them and they smelled amazing. All roses smell good, but these smelled really good. Maybe because he got them for me... I wasn't sure.

"So are you ready to go?" he asked, hesitantly.

"I'm ready when you are," I replied, stepping out the door.

"All right," he said with a smile. I walked with him to his Jeep and he walked around to my side and opened my door for me. I smiled at him and got into the car. Shawn went back around to get in the driver's seat. We buckled our seat belts and Shawn began to drive. There was an awkward silence between us that I desperately wanted to be gone.

"So what time does the movie start?" I asked.

"6:30," Shawn mumbled. He paused and then said "I don't think I told you you looked nice. I meant to back at the house but I got distracted. You really do look beautiful." He shyly glanced over at me.

"Thank you," I said with a smile. "You don't look too bad yourself."

He glanced at me again and smiled. After another awkward moment I asked "Do you mind if I turn up the radio?"

Shawn shook his head. "Nope. Go right ahead."

I turned the volume dial up a few notches. Now that it was louder I could hear "Castle on the Hill" playing.

"I love this song!" I said, excitedly.

"Really? Me too," Shawn said. He began to sing along quietly to the song, and I was kind of surprised to hear that he was actually a good singer. I had overheard him talking about a possible singing career a few months ago, but I didn't know if he was actually any good. Apparently he was. I listened to him hum the rest of the song, marveling at how good he sounded.
