Dominick POV

"You're right where you need to be Dominick-" Dana mumbled looking around the New York penthouse. I'd just won the UFC Bantamweight championship belt and here I was wearing a suit and tie at a party with no one I knew. Wait... let me rephrase that, no one I cared to talk to, considering there were plenty of fighters here. "-Stay on this track kid, it will do you good."

"That's what you keep telling me." I looked to Eric Del Fierro my coach who was busy chit chatting with a few women. My thoughts were interrupted when I heard someone clear their throat. The man resembled Dana, yet he did have hair, sandy, and eyes like Dana's.

"Brother!"

"Colin, it's good to see you! I didn't expect you to come..." He chuckled and hugged him before motioning to me.

"This is Dominick Cruz he's one of my fighters...." The man nodded then offered his hand, which I shook.

"Nice to meet you sir."

"Please call me Colin..." A blonde approached and kissed Colin's cheek, smiling slightly.

"Commander this is not my scene.... I'm fleeing..."

"So soon Elana...?" She nodded before looking to Dana and I. "Before you run off. This is Dana my brother and one of his employees Dominick."

" Nice to meet you two-" She flashed a pearly white smile. "-If you excuse me I'm going to go find a book... a glass of wine... and a booth downstairs at the bar." My eyes couldn't help but follow her form as she walked towards the doors. Red dress hugging her tanned skin and blonde locks curled down to her mid back.

"I'm sorry she's a bit off." He paused to choose his words carefully. "She just got back from a long tour in Iraq." I looked to Colin now, my interest peaked about her more than before.

"She's a solider?" I cleared my throat as I crossed my arms.

"She's a special agent... I assume I can trust you considering my brother keeps you by his side, but she's very... damaged. I bring her along for her own good... she was tortured over there. I don't think all of her made it back..." His voice trailed off before he downed his glass of liquor. "If you excuse me. I'm going to need a refill." He walked off and I sighed softly, a yawn escaping me.

"I think I'm going to turn in Dana."

"Alright kid. I'm going to have a word with my brother-" His tone serious as he pointed a finger at me. "-be ready for another fight soon." He chuckled and walked off, I could see him paling around with his brother near the bar. I sighed softly and began tugging my tie off as I left the penthouse and stepped into the elevator. I stopped on the floor below and made it to my room, shoving the keycard in and sighing to myself once more. I loved this life, yet hated it as the same time. The parties weren't my thing most of the time. I kicked off my dress shoes and pants before slipping into a Alliance T-shirt and joggers. Before I knew it I found myself back in the elevator, taking it down to the lobby. My body guided me to the bar and I sat down, ordering a beer before glancing around the room. There she sat knees close to her chest and book blocking her face, a mug settled on the table and a empty wine glass. I grabbed my beer after setting down the money for it and wandered towards were she sat.

"He dies at the end..." I held my smirk in as she lowered the book, nearly glaring at me before she flipped to one of the last pages, her blue eyes scanned the page before sitting it down on the table.

"I've just met you and seemingly I already hate you.... why ruin someone's book?" I motioned to the booth and she nodded so I sat down before taking a sip of my beer.

"So you'd have a reason to sit and talk with me..." She chuckled before taking a sip of her coffee, the empty wine glass lingered on the edge of the table.

"Dominick right?"

"Yes... and Elana?"

"Call me Lana... So Dominick, what makes you think I would be interested in talking to you, let alone have a topic in common." A smirk graced her plump pink lips as she sat up a little more. A tiny nearly unnoticeable scar ran vertical on her bottom lip on the left side. She was playing a game now, in no way being mean or rude.

"I like to think of myself as a very interesting person. I'm a fighter, but there is more to me than that... Brazilian Jujitsu... mountain biking... I could go on, but I'm not egotistical." She laughed slightly, biting on her tongue for a moment.

"What belt are you in Jujitsu?"

"Blue..."

"Mmm seems I'm ahead of you... Black belt.... I'll be stuck there for awhile though." I couldn't help but smirk slightly, though I was surely impressed.

"We'll have to spar sometime...." We sat there for hours, chatting about so many different things. Common interests seemed never ending for us. By the time I'd finished my 3rd beer, she'd polished off another glass of wine and another cup of coffee, her hoodie engulfing her tiny frame as she yawned. I glanced to the clock, cursing at myself.

"Tired?" She mumbled and I nodded before standing.

"Let me walk you up to your room Miss Clark..." I offered my hand to her and she looked at it before accepting. Surely she was curious if I'd attempt to make a move. Her hand was surprisingly soft considering the small details I did know about her. We walked to the elevator and she clicked the button for my floor. We walked out and she motioned to a door, which was right beside mine.

"This is my stop tiger..."

"Which happens to be right next to mine..." I kissed her temple before giving a nod as I let her hand go. "Good night Lana. Hopefully our path's cross again sometime soon."

"Consider we're both right hands to the White brothers I'm sure they will Dom...Good night..." Her hand pulled me back and she pecked my cheek before separating us, flashing a smile as she let herself into her room. I could never forget the day our paths first crossed.
