Lana POV

My stomach churned as I put on my uniform. It'd months since I had to wear it and today was definitely not an exception. As I glanced in the mirror one more time arms engulfed me, pulling me back to reality that I wasn't about to go to war. I was merely going on base.

"I'm right here."

" It seems you always know when I'm about to freak out." I couldn't help but smirk slightly. "I know you, Joe, Uriah, and Jessica are excited. Granted it isn't depressing by any means I just don't know who is going to be there."

"I'll be there the whole time." I nodded slowly before adjusting his tie.

"You look handsome." He smirked before I led the way to the car. The drive was oddly silent for us on the way to base. I was waved through the gate as always and parked near the venue on base before taking a deep breath. Abscentmindedly I twirled my engagement band around my finger before getting out of the car. Dominick took my hand and we made our way inside sitting at one of the back dining tables to avoid much attention.

"Well well! Look who the cat dragged in!" I glanced beside me seeing a familiar form. In a swift motion I was up, snaking my arms around his neck as he scooped me up.

"Logan!"

" The one and only!" He chuckled as I let him go.

"Dom I would like you to meet Logan he's like my brother. Another one of Rosa's saved children." I laughed softly and sat down as they shook hands. Logan sat on the other side of me and soon enough Joe along with the others showed up. Yet it was one face that made me freeze in my place. Her hair was white now and she stood next to a petite brunette.

" The wicked witch of the West is here. For what?"

" To support Eric just like Rosa supports us. Fifty bucks if she sees me she'll smack me." I glanced to Logan as Joe chuckled.

"That sounds like an awful bet. You can't be serious." Joe chimed in and I shrugged.

"I bet you a hundred she doesn't." Logan dug into his pocket sitting a hundred on the table. Dominick kept looking at me as if I was crazy, only making me chuckle. Logan poured a glass of whiskey and slid it to me. "May the odds be ever in your favour darlin." He smirked as I downed the drink.

"Show some respect for your commander." I pushed his hat down before glancing around. Eric looked stressed the moment his mother motioned to our table. "She's spotted me. Any and all bets on the table." Joe placed a hundred on the table, his wife Jessica smacking his arms as I downed another drink.

" You! You dare show up here? You know I really pray your name shows up on this board, but here you sit." I stood and leaned against the table. As expected she smacked me and Eric yanked her back. I couldn't help but chuckle weakly.

"Sorry for the disappointment-"

" You got my son killed."

"Correction. Your son got himself killed. If we're gonna go tit for tat then I guess I should tell you I'm no idiot. I know that hot little number over there is the girl Nicholas cheated on me with when we were engaged."

I crossed my arms and looked at her, lacking emotion in my features. "I know she was in my bed because her perfume was so overbearing. So two nights before we left for Iraq he slept on the floor. The night before I fucked your other son." I glanced to Eric who rubbed his face as his mother stared him down. "I'm not done yet. When I was tortured apparently I was pregnant with Eric's son. So you can blame me for that death. However don't act like that woman over there doesn't have a daughter of Nicholas' because I know." She opened her mouth to speak yet she shook her head and walked away.

"She's always like that I'm sorry." Eric groaned rubbing his face once more. "I best go talk to her and this is from our friend." He dug into his pocket and handed me a letter. Familiar handwriting in cursive across the front. "Congratulations." He motioned to my ring and smirked.

"Thank you." We hugged before I sat down and rubbed my cheek. Logan chuckled and slid the pile of money my way.

"She's brutal."

"That's a minor statement." I grumbled and glanced to Dominick. He looked almost hurt due to the fact of what I had said. Surely it'd lead to a conversation we'd lacked to have and one I hadn't been planning on having for some time. Children. Eric and I weren't heartbroken or upset about it because we didn't want to be parents. It was as simple as that for us.

"Cheers to us." Logan hollered and lifted his glass as did everyone else at the table. I downed yet another glass before looking towards Dominick's side, kissing his cheek.

"I think you're one of the stars of the party. I see people keep looking at you."

"They know my name and what I've been through by my pins on my jacket. Not me. Not like you do." I mumbled and looked at his hand holding mine, his thumb running over my ring.

Moments later food was served, yet I was already somewhere else. Mentally prepping myself for the possibility of being sent away once again. It was always a fear that came with the job and right now wasn't the most opportune time.

" When we get home I've got a bit of a surprise for you Lana." Dom mumbled shortly before taking a sip of his water. Joe smirked at the comment, obviously he was in on whatever this plan was to come.

"Really?"

" Yeah, you should invite your sister and such." What did he have up his sleeve? I narrowed my hues at him as he chuckled softly. Obviously it was something semi sweet.
