Lana POV

The next few months felt like I was on cloud nine. I spent nearly every day at Dom's place it was more like home than my own. Late August we threw a party, which started this whole story. I glanced to Erik one of the members of my team talking to my sister Kiki and my mother Rosa. Dom and the others were late due to training, which I didn't mind.

" What are you thinking about?" Erik chuckled softly, he towered over me, blonde hair and blue eyes his dominant features.

"October." I grumbled slightly. Erik sat down and lit a cigarette before sighing slightly as he swung the bench we were sitting on.

"I know you took my place on that mission. Why?"

"I met the new girl Naomi. I don't trust her. Last thing I'm going to do is make your parents bury two sons because of me." I took a drag of his cigarette before returning it as I made a face and coughed.

"You couldn't save Nicholas-"

"I could have saved him some pain. I mean I knew he fucking cheated on me, but I still gave a shit about him. He was still technically my fiancee." I shrugged and watched Kiki and Rosa wandering near the pool.

"Did you ever tell him you were pregnant?" I shook my head before laughing almost bitterly.

"No. I was ready to throw the ring in his face and I hadn't seen him for three months leading up to that mission. If I had told him he would have acted like he cared. Then again I probably would have told him the truth. That it was yours."

"That was a huge mistake." Erik glanced around obviously to make sure no one was in hearing distance.

"Agreed. I look at you like a brother now." I scrunched up my nose and stuck my tongue out as he chuckled.

"So tell me about this new guy." He nudged me as I rolled my eyes.

" Dominick you mean? He's great. He's not full of bullshit you know? Like last week we were supposed to meet at this restaurant for lunch. So I get there and wait- and wait - and an hour late he shows up. I open my mouth to talk, possibly yell, but he raised his hand and stops me and said-" I mimicked Dom's voice." -I'm sorry I'm late. I wasn't paying attention to the clock at the gym. I was just focused." Erik laughed at my impersonation." I'm just glad he owns up to his mistakes and errors." I chuckled slightly and shrugged again.

"Sounds pretty serious, but how does he feel about you going across the world to fight a war?"

"Mmm like everyone of our loved ones."

"Worried" We said at the same time.

"Sorry I'm late." Dom leaned from behind and kissed my cheek before walking around. "Hey I'm Dominick."

"Erik." He shook his hand after standing. "Good to finally meet the tamer of this woman. Watch out mate she's a psychopath." He snickered before walking away as I gave him the middle finger.

"Whose that guy?"

"Nicholas' brother and over there is Kiki my foster sister and my mother in every sense of the word Rosa, but you already know her." I pointed as he sat down. Slowly every one else was coming outside, Dom's family and friends of course. "Jealous?" I glanced to him, glaring at Erik from afar.

"He seems to like you." I rolled my eyes before laughing softly and I took his hand.

"There is a reason why I'm with you and a reason why I'm not with him. Trust me." I looked in his eyes before looking back to the group of friends. Dom's mother had discovered mine and were deep in conversation. "That reminds me. I got you something! " I sprinted inside to the kitchen grabbing the navy blue box out of the drawer and coming back outside. "Here, Open it." He narrowed his eyes at me as I sat down and clicked it open. The watch piece was wooden with a leather band, he picked it up and looked at the back.

"Time flies x Lana" He huffed a laugh, a half smile crossing his lips as he tried it on then glanced to me. "I like it a lot." He sighed slightly and pulled me closer. "I'm glad time flies. I'm going to need it to if I'll be without you for so long. Lana?"

" Yeah Dom?"

"How much longer are you going to do this- Fight?" I hadn't ever thought about it to be honest. I just kept going because I could. No family, relationships, truth be told it was all I had before him. Before this.

"I'm not sure. I think- I think I'll know when my time is done." I stood and stretched before he got up and carefully put his watch in the box. In a swift movement he scooped me up, smirking devilishly. I couldn't help but laugh once he jumped in with me still in his arms. When we surfaced apart I glanced to my mother Rosa who was smiling nearly ear to ear. She'd longed for me to find a partner. Someone I trusted and used as my rock when the world became too crazy for even me.

"Are you two finally dating?" Suzette hollered from the side of the pool as I laughed.

" Yes I finally asked her." He laughed before scooping me into his arms for a moment. "She actually said yes."

"I know! What was I thinking?" I snickered as I made my way out of the pool, drying my hair with a towel. I saw him glancing at Erik once again before he saw me staring him down.

"He's good for you." Kiki stood beside me, her long black hair braided down her back and chocolate eyes scanning the crowd. "I mean it. After what you fucking went through. He gives a fuck." I nodded slightly and crossed my arms.

" Which reminds me."

"I heard-" She shot me a glare."-You're going on this next mission. I can tell you not to go, but I know you won't listen. The risk is too high." I shrugged and looked towards the garden.

"Listen, if I don't make it-"

"Don't say shit like that." She snapped back and grabbed my arm. "You will be fine. Everyone will be fine."

" If I don't make it. I need you to go under my bed and get out the black box. You'll know what to do alright." I nearly glared at her before tugging my arm away. "I best be prepared rather than not. I know it isn't what you want to hear but it has to be said." I'm glad I said it looking back now.
