She wasn't answering his calls. Or his texts.

Nothing.

Gunner kept pacing around his room, fighting the temptation to get into that car again and driving there to find out if Lamees was okay or not. But something told him that it would only make matters worse for her. So he stayed put.

After an hour of pacing, he finally settled down on his bed and picked up his basketball. He twirled it on his fingers, his mind working.

How was he going to find out if she was okay or not? Would she come to school tomorrow? Would she even talk to him? What would he do if she didn't?

The ball dropped from his hand.
