CHAPTER 12: ALLAY

"Will you untie me already?" Logan grumbled, glaring at Blayth.

"I am enjoying this too much to do that."

"Blayth..." Lazarus sighed, clutching his bandaged wound as Lorena helped him lean against a tree, "Untie him."

"He tried to kill Noah." Blayth stated.

"Misunderstanding." Lazarus said.

Blayth rolled his eyes before he went to cut the ropes, but not before warning, "Try anything again, and I won't hesitate to slit your throat." Logan merely glared as he rubbed his wrists, checking his injury, keeping a close eye on Blayth the entire time. "So where did you come from?"

"You saw where he came from, stupid." Cylus said nonchalantly, sipping on his soup.

"Not what I meant, dimwit." Blayth glared over his shoulder.

"Eglar." Logan said, "Where are we now?"

"What used to be Eglar." Blayth replied.

"What does that mean?" Logan asked.

"Just that. A long time ago, Eglar ceased to exist." Blayth replied.

"No. That is not possible." Logan insisted, "What of King Nicolas?"

"Told you, he is dead." Lazarus said, "He lived a good life, his rule was one of the greatest, then his son took over."

"King Nicolas had no sons." Insisted Logan.

"He did. Perhaps after you were entrapped, but he did. Lucius is his grandson as I told you before." Lazarus said, hissing when Ren re-bandaged his wounds.

Logan's eyes fell to the ground as he tried to grasp what they were telling him before asking, "What year is it?"

"1896." Replied Leon, handing Lucius a bowl of soup. Logan's frown deepened, seeming distraught. Leon looked up at that moment, asking, "How long were you entrapped?"

"Over 1000 years..." Muttered Logan, clutching his head, "Dear god... no one is alive..." then a thought occurred to him as he asked, "How are you alive? The grandson of Nicolas? How is that possible?"

"Immortality spell." Lazarus replied, watching everyone's weary eyes look at him, as if wondering what he was thinking telling the man so soon after meeting him. "We were assigned a mission. As you know only Delafontaine's can open and close the portal, so we needed him. That is why we are here. To protect him until the mission is complete."

"Father, why are you telling him?" Lorena asked.

"He was one of us. A king's advisor. King Nicolas nonetheless. One of the greatest kings to live."

"The king that decreed the captor of all the mad mages and to be locked away." Logan said, "After they started wreaking havoc, they had to be stopped. Everyone was fearful, but King Nicolas wouldn't allow his people to die." Lazarus nodded, recalling the tales, recalling his reign as he'd lived through it.

"He was the one who assigned me to King Timothy's protection." Lazarus said, seeing Logan's eyes turn to him.

"He must have trusted you then. Your family has always been loyal to the crown." Logan said.

"I was there because of my father, but then after an incident with Timothy, he'd ordered that I stay with his son." Lazarus spoke fondly of the memory, shaking his head as he recalled it, "From that day, when we were mere children, I never left his side."

"He's dead?" Logan guessed.

Lazarus nodded, saying, "A longtime ago."

"You said you ruled Eglar."
