CHAPTER 19: ETERNAL SLUMBER

It was cold, Noah noticed, pulling the blanket closer to himself as he turned to his side, only to be blinded by the little sunlight coming through the curtains, directly hitting his eyes. He groaned before laying on his back again to avoid the sun, slowly opening his eyes to stare at the ceiling before a soft smile touched his lips. It had snowed the night before, but he was already off duty. Even though he'd wanted to be close to Lucius, he wasn't able to go back into the castle without arousing suspicion.

He got up, deciding it was time to wake Lucius up. With that thought in mind, he hurriedly got dressed and headed to the castle. Nodding to the guards outside Lucius's room, he walked past them, going into Lucius's chamber and closing the door behind him before making his way to the bed. He got on it, leaning over the sleeping form, where only blonde hair was shown from the top of the blanket before he tugged at the duvet. Noah couldn't help but stare fondly for the longest time when the blanket was off of Lucius's face.

"Lu, time to wake up." Noah mumbled, smiling when he heard a soft moan of protest leave Lucius. He got closer, kissing the column of Lucius's neck before he whispered in his ear, "Wake up."

"Noah..." Lucius whined, turning away from Noah, "Don't do that..."

Noah chuckled, "Why? Because it gets you hot and bothered?"

"Go away." Lucius mumbled, trying to pull his blanket back.

"Really?" Noah asked, "But it's snowing." As if on que Lucius sat up, his eyes wide open as he looked outside the window before a wide smile spread on his face. "So that's a yes to our morning ride?"

"Are the horses ready?" Lucius asked as he pushed the blankets back, getting up before heading to his closet. Noah laughed at his reaction, knowing how much Lucius loved it when it snowed.

"Of course." Noah replied. When Lucius turned to him, his smile faltering, he knew what it meant, which got him to get off of the bed, reaching Lucius before pressing their lips together in a deep kiss. "Now finish changing." Noah said when he pulled back, smirking at the dazed look in Lucius's eyes. He wondered if he looked the same after every time they kissed.

After Lucius was ready, they headed down to the yard, getting on their horses before heading out. The moment they reached the lake, Lucius jumped off of his horse, laughing as he made his way towards it. It looked amazing surrounded by snow. Lucius looked back towards Noah, seeing as he just finished tying the horses to a tree before he made his way towards him.

"I love how it looks in winter." Lucius said, turning back around towards the lake, feeling Noah's gloved hand slip in his own.

"I know. Just don't go swimming today. Last time you were in bed for almost two weeks fighting off a cold." Noah reminded him. Lucius pouted before pulling his hand away, then leaning down to pick up a pile of snow and tossing it at Noah, who was shocked as it hit him, glaring at Lucius who smiled innocently. It only took a moment before Noah was returning the favor, gathering snow and tossing it at Lucius. They kept fighting until Noah finally grabbed a hold of him, making both of them fall into the snow laughing.

"I want to stay here forever." Lucius muttered, a puff of air leaving him as he spoke.

"I wish we could." Noah responded, looking into the emeralds he loved so much. "I love you, Lu."

"The water doesn't look so cold." Lucius said changing the subject as his cheeks turned red. He pushed Noah off of him, making him chuckle as he got to his feet.

"Lu, no swimming."

"I am not a child, stop speaking to me as such." Lucius said, starting to take off his thick coat.
