Chapter 103: Deception
"Suzue, do you have any news about the mermaids?" ryan suddenly ask interrupting the silence between them.
he remembered that she said, the culprit of the disappearance of the mermaids has the possibility of being here.
but since that report, ryan haven't heard any news regarding this matter. so he took this chance to ask the woman completly forgetting that he's a prince and he could ask her any time.
ryan seems to lower her IQ when it comes to a certain albino.
"There's still no suspicious movement beside the odd uniformed movement of the townsfolk and the huge wall that suddenly appeared"
she paused and seems to be thinking about something causing the pair to stop in the middle.
"What is it?" ryan asked after a minute.
"Well i just notice that only the land of dasos and nero has a myth. what about the others? are there no other mythical creatures protecting each land?"
ryan raises his eyebrow and crosses his arm and stared at the villagers who are working.
"So you don't know yet? each land has there own myth. Dasos has the faeries, Nero has the mermaids, gi is protected by a griffin, anemos has the pegasus, and the fotia worships the phoenix. it is expected you don't know the others. this three creatures is well hidden, only the nobles knows about them. i thought you already know because you are the heir of avaleon but i guess considering how engross you are in training, it's not surprising"
suzue frown after hearing an additional information.
"Gi is protected by the griffin?. that's... then why?"
ryan didn't understand what suzue is pertaining so he showed a confused expression. the woman notice it and questioned, "if that land is protected by such powerful beast then why did the goblin conquered one of the villages so easily?. is that land is really as you said protected? or this mythical creatures are just made by a man?"
startled, ryan couldn't help but silently agreed.
he heard about the situation of the Gi before they started this journey. he thought that the village was saved after not hearing anything from it.
"There are many things that had been bothering me since arriving this place. it's confusing. the cards, the law, the lands, the myth... hey your highness, what'st the purpose of this journey?. was it just a spreading our connection and gaining the recognition of the commoners just like what they said, or something more?"
ryan couldn't answer. because he also have the same question.
was the reason something mroe.
but what ryan didn't expect is what suzue said next.
"Or it's just nothing but a simple act of deception"
"deception? how?" ryan watch how the woman's eyes started turning dull, she nibbles her lips. an act she does when she's thinking something unpleasant yet interesting.
however, this acttion of hers also implies her dissatisfaction towards the conclusion of her thoughts.
"an act of deception. they sent us- no, someone ordered them to send us in a journey to deprived our attention towards the truth about this land."
"The truth about this land?" ryan's carefully thought over this phrase and slowly his yes widen.

ryan remembered the conversation suzue had with hadley. if suzue's theory about this world is real then, is he real?.

"that reaction.. could it be you know about this worl-"
"-no! no i wasn't eavesdropping!. i did not care when hadley pulled you talk in garden nor i was concerned about this world being a game!"
the pair freezes and ryan's face suddenly erupted into redness. his skin is tan match with the blush that went up from his neck to his cheeks made him look burning.
"Your lies are open" suzue couldn't help but point out and teasingly while she watches the steams coming out of his ears.
"i'm sorry, it wasn't my intention" he silently said his whole being appearing soft and wronged.
he looks completely different from the prince that suzue always sees when visiting the castle, in the school, and in here.
she felt comfortable and felt her heart skipped a beat.
startled, she look away and touches lightly her chest. and then purses her lips and shove the feeling to the back of her mind.
"anyway we should get going your highness"
suzue sigh and started walking again. her mind is blank and her expression looks the same as always, indifferent and passive.
but her hands that are always inside her pockets were not there. Suzue with her arm crossed nibbles her lower lip appearing confused and bewildered.
"It was just a quick feeling it's nothing" she whispered in the air letting it carried away in the wind away from her, and away from the man behind her.
to distract her self she started thinking back towards the mythical creatures.
those creatures were common so suzue who did't bother reading any mythological information when she was peyton is fortunate enough to know few information about them that are useful to her.
the anemos' pegasus. Pegasus is a flying horse and the very ability of flying has always been considered universal symbol of liberty and free spirit. (thanks google) but why does the anemos has the pegasus when it's a land full of untrustworthy nobles who's freedom are so tiny.
the gi's griffin. the griffin's amalgamation of lion and eagle gains in courage and boldness. the land is protected by such creature who symbolizes strength. but why did the griffin abandoned one of the village? and is the symbol of a land where the adventurers are a bunch of muscle head that has fortune as there priority?
The nero's mermaids. Mermaids embody the sacred feminine. it symbolizes awareness and insight. but is the lord was not aware of the predicament his land's creatures are in?
The dasos' faeries. Fairy symbolizes games, growth, and illusions.. but why are the people in this village different from the mischievous faeries and looks more like a chained servants or NPCs that are only programmed with word, smile and talk?.
Suzue started wondering what fotia is.
but remembering her theory of this journey is just a deception for them to forget about the school being a setting in a famous game.
suzue pauses... before the headmaster sent them to a journey, suzue and hadley had a chat about the game of otome.
then now, suzue and the prince had a chat about this journey different from what the headmaster said, then that means.
There's a big possibility for them to be sent back towards the school.
