Leah's POV

I sat across from Luca in the living room, the soft glow of the full moon casting a warm light into the dimly lit room.

We had just finished dinner, and I could sense that something was on Luca's mind.

But I couldn't get what it was.

His expression was serious, and his eyes held a mixture of determination and strategy.

I felt like asking but not ask at the same time.

"Leah, there's something I need to tell you," Luca began, taking a deep breath.

I felt a knot of apprehension form in my stomach. "What is it?" I asked, her voice tinged with concern.

"I'll have to go away for a while," Luca said, his gaze never leaving mine.

My eyes widened in surprise. "Go away? For how long? For what? " I asked, trying to process the sudden news.

I know I sounded needy but what else could I say?

"Around a month," Luca replied, his tone heavy with thought.

He said 'Around a month', so it could be longer.

"I'm going to go to war with La Cosa Nostra. It's something that can't be avoided this time."

My heart sank as I realized the gravity of the situation.

I knew Luca's involvement with the mafia had always been a part of his life, but the thought of him going to war, and facing danger and uncertainty, was overwhelming, even for me.

"But... why now? Why so suddenly?" I asked, trying to keep my voice from trembling.

Luca sighed, running a hand through his hair.

"It's complicated," he said. "There have been some tensions within the organization, something about them attacking a Swiss warehouse do the Swiss want to go straight to war and so do the others and I need to address them. It's part of the responsibility that comes with my position" he explained.

Mafia sounded more complicated than it seemed,  I felt kinda sad that Luca has to deal with it alone.

"Is there no other way?" I asked.

He looked into my eyes, "I wish there was," he said. "But sometimes, there are things I have to do that I can't avoid."

I felt torn between my concern for his safety and my understanding of the responsibilities he carried as the mafia king.

I knew that he had a duty to protect his family and his organization, but it was hard to accept that he would be putting himself in harm's way to do so.

"I don't want anything to happen to you,"  I mumbled to myself so he wouldn't hear it.

"But I'm sure it'll be short, hopefully," he said standing up.

I nodded, trying to be strong despite my fears. "I know you have to do what you have to do," I said.

"Good night, I'll be in my study," he said going up the stairs.

I sat in silence for a moment, taking in what I heard.

Sydney's POV

I woke up and looked at the side of the bed. No one.

He's gone just like that. Well, that saves me the trouble of getting rid of them.

"Are you done looking for him?" I husky voice said you could hear that he was Spanish.
