Leah's POV

I went around my business in the house.

Checking if everything was okay. Fonalisingbthe changes the kids' rooms will have. And some other stuff.

The afternoon sun cast long shadows through the mansion's windows as I tried to lose myself in the tasks at hand.

I busied myself with paperwork, organizing schedules, and checking emails, anything to keep my mind from wandering to thoughts of that wedding invitation.

Luca allowed me to do his work if I felt like it. It's not a requirement, it's completely my choice.

Just as I was deeply engrossed in reviewing some financial reports of Romano Inc., the sound of the front door opening broke my concentration.

I glanced at the antique grandfather clock in the corner of the room and realized that Luca was returning from his meeting.

He probably left early.

He walked in, looking as dashing as ever in his impeccably tailored suit.

Can the guy ever get a bad closet?

Despite my determination to focus on work, my heart skipped a beat when I saw him.

I couldn't deny the attraction, even if I tried to hide it.

"Welcome back," I greeted him summoning a smile, setting aside the documents.

He acknowledged my presence with a nod and a faint smile.

"How has your day been?"

"Busy, but that's nothing new," I replied, trying to keep my tone light.

Luca moved closer to the desk, his eyes scanning the paperwork spread out before me. "You've been working unnecessarily."

I shrugged, feigning nonchalance. "I always liked extra homework."

He leaned against the edge of the desk, and I couldn't help but notice the subtle scent of his cologne, which always seemed to linger in the air long after he had passed.

Hmm, I wonder what it is?

What?

His cologne

Really?

Yeah

You're weird.

What? You never know when your boss which you're also in love with will need a bottle of cologne in an emergency!

I'm done with you.

"Leah, I know you're good at it, but you don't need to do it" he reminded.

I sighed, feeling a hint of frustration. "Luca, I'm fine. I wanted to do something useful with my life."

He didn't look convinced. "You don't have to handle everything on your own, Leah."

His words struck a chord with me, and for a moment, I allowed myself to consider the truth in them.

Maybe I had been shouldering too much on my own.

"Thank you," I finally said, a genuine smile tugging at my lips. "I appreciate that, Luca."

He smiled back, a warmth in his eyes that made my heart flutter.

"Anyway, I'll be going," I said standing up.

"Leah" he called. I looked at him "Yes" I replied.

"Yesterday you looked like something happened, was there anything wrong?" he asked.
