Leah's POV

As the afternoon sun bathed the living room in a warm glow, Gabriel, Andrea, and Bella returned from school.

I could hear their lively chatter and laughter from the kitchen, where the girl and I had been snacking on some apple slices.

The moment the children walked into the room, the girls expression changed.

Her previously cheerful demeanour turned into a pouty one, and she crossed her arms in a classic display of indignation.

Gabriel, ever observant, immediately noticed her mood shift.

He looked at her.

"Hello Mammy" they all greeted me while putting their bags down.

"Hey guys" I smiled.

Gabriel came to hug me.

"What's wrong with Angel?" Gabriel whispered to me.

"She's mad at you for not saying bye to her in the morning" I whispered back.

"Oh," he nodded his head and went towards her. She still didn't look happy.

"Hey, Angel," he said softly, "I'm sorry I didn't say goodbye this morning. You were still sleeping, and I didn't want to wake you up."

Angel stared at him, her little brows furrowed.

She clearly wasn't ready to forgive him just yet.

Andrea and Bella, seeing the situation, joined in to smooth things over.

"Come on," Bella chimed in with a soothing voice, "Gabe didn't mean to make you upset. He loves you lots."

"Yeah," Andrea added, "he didn't mean it."

But Angel remained stubborn, maintaining her pout.

I couldn't help but smile at the interaction.

Kids could be so resolute in their feelings, and it was both endearing and amusing to witness their dynamics.

"Look," I said, stepping closer to her, "how about we all sit down together and have some cookies? That way, we can talk about why Gabe had to leave early this morning."

Angel seemed to consider this proposal for a moment.

Then, she nodded slowly and allowed herself to be led to the kitchen table, where a plate of freshly baked cookies awaited them.

As they all sat down and I poured some milk, the atmosphere began to lighten, and soon enough, their laughter filled the room once more.

Angel and Gabriel reconciled, with the condition that Gabriel had to promise to say bye every day, no matter what.

They made a contract too. Bella and her plushie Zuzu signed as the judges and the witnesses. I was dragged into it and was forced to sign as the third-party witness.

Andrea used her decorative stamp as a government stamp from the high government of what the kids called 'GABAM' (Gabriel, Angel, Bella, Andrea and Mammy).

So it was very much official.

It was a mess of glitter, glue, cut papers, jokes, paint, pens and laughter.

But I loved it. I loved them.

Third-Person POV

It wasn't long before the living room had transformed into a playful battlefield, strewn with pillows and blankets.

The sun was beginning to dip below the horizon as Luca returned home from his meeting.

Stepping into the living room, he was met with an unexpected sight.
