Miyagi-Don't

I couldn't help myself, man. Averman and I are the biggest Karate Kid nerds. I wanted to surprise him, which is why I got Fulton to help me practice karate. Averman doesn't even know I've started doing karate. Yesterday, I ended up in the hospital with Fulton because something went wrong and I ended up breaking my arm. Fulton is still guilty about it. He's no Mr Miyagi and I'm certainly no Daniel LaRusso. I'm pretty sure what we did wasn't even close to Miyagi-Do. More like Miyagi-Don't.

"Maybe you should've got someone else to help you train." Fulton shrugs as we walk down the street.

"What? Nah, Fult, you're doing a great job." I reassure him.

"Y/N, I literally had to take you to the hospital yesterday."

"Oh, come on, Fult. It was an accident, alright? It's just a broken arm - I'm fine."

"You can't even practice now."

"We can figure something out."

"You sure you wanna do that?"

"Yeah, totally."

We continue talking about how we can improve in the future to make sure no more bones get broken. Honestly, both of us are a little doubtful about the situation. About 10 minutes of walking later, we walk towards the cinema. As we do so, we spot our red-headed buddy.

"Hey, Averman." Fulton waves as he walks towards us.

"Oh, hey guys." He smiles and pushes up his glasses.

"You just getting off from work?" I ask as I try to hide my injured arm behind Fulton.

"Yeah. Hey, what happened to your arm." He questions as he gets a glimpse of the light blue cast covering the injury.

"Oh, uh, I, uh..." Oh shit, I didn't even think about the possibility of running into Averman. Somehow.

"I went to sweep her leg but it kinda went wrong - so she fell and whacked her arm on the brick steps behind her." Fulton blabs.

"Fulton!" I scold him.

"You tried to sweep her leg?" Averman looks confused before realising what he meant. "Were you doing karate? Did you act out Karate Kid without me?" He asks, seemingly betrayed.

"Maybe."

"And you didn't even invite me. Wow."

"Averman, I'm sorry. I just wanted to surprise you. That way, I could beat your ass and you'd be impressed instead of trying to fight me back. Fult seemed like a good person to help me practice. " I try and fail to explain.

"Dude, I can't believe you wouldn't tell me. You deserve that broken arm." He says jokingly.

"Hey, I can still crane kick those glasses off your face." I jokingly threaten him - making all three of us laugh.

"Let's not do that. We've already been to the hospital once this week." Fulton jokes.

After we finally calm down and move onto other topics, we start walking away from the movie theatre.

"So, what're you guys up to?" Averman asks us.

"We're gonna get some sharpies for the team to sign my cast."

"Then we were gonna get lunch and go back to Y/N's place to watch a movie." Fulton adds.

"Nice."

"You wanna join us? I'll let you sign my cast first." I offer.

"Totally! I'm gonna draw something stupid on it."

The three of us head to the store to grab the sharpies and some snacks before going for lunch. We practically inhale our burgers and Cokes.

"What're we watching?" I ask as we walk back to my house.

"I would say Karate Kid, but that's an open wound." Averman laughs.

"There's too many good choices." Fulton states.

"I've been meaning to rewatch Back To The Future. You wanna watch it?" I suggest.

"I haven't seen Back To The Future in a minute. I'm down." Fulton agrees.

"Definitely." Averman also agrees.

When we walk into my house, Averman instantly grabs a red sharpie and writes on the cast. Once he's done, I look to see a silly face, his name and 'sweep the leg' written under it. As Fulton puts the movie on, we all sit together and start munching on the snacks. Hopefully, Averman will be able to forgive me for my huge betrayal.
