Chapter 34

Veer was staring at the ceiling and rewinding the  last  night's event in his mind.  He turned his gaze towards Akansha  who was sleeping peacefully in his arms. Her head was resting on his chest and her hands were wrapped around his torso.

His fingers were sliding slowly against  her bare back. He looked at her face with more attention and saw that some strands of hair were rubbing against her eyelashes, disturbing her sleep. He removed them and placed them behind her ears.  He noticed how carefree and beautiful she was looking in her sleep. Akansha is beautiful No doubt in it but the morning freshness was adding extra element to her beauty.

"But this same soul was looking so tortured last night until he arrived "- This question came running in his mind  and he wanted answers of it. But he was busy admiring the beauty of his wife, so he ignored it for the time being.

But his admiration was cut short when his phone rang. He picked it from the bedside table to see that his Secretary was calling him. He picked the call to get to know the reminder of his early morning meeting with foreign clients.

Realising that he was running a bit late, he slowly and steadily pushed Akansha body from his and placed her on her side of the bed.

Coming out from the wardrobe with tie in his hands, he stood in front of the mirror. He was knotting his tie when  Akansha turned her side in sleep  and her face was visible to Veer. Taking his watch from the table, he put it on his wrist and took a last look at himself in the mirror.

He went near the bed to steal a last glance at sleeping face of Akansha. He couldn't help but smile when he noticed that the thin sheet of cloth has slipped from her chest giving him the perfect view of her side breast to his eyes.

her slightly parted lips were inviting him once again to claim them but he had more important work than this at his hands. Ignoring his distracting thoughts , he pulled the sheets over her and covered her properly. He gave a sweet kiss on her forehead and left the room.

"Is Akansha Madam okk??"- The driver asked question out of the blue to Veer who was busy scrolling the phone.

"Yes , she is".

"But why did you ask the question"-  Veer countered question him as the topic of Akansha  wellness was messing with his mind from last night and he couldn't control his urge after listening the question.His all attention shifted from the phone to the driver response.

"Mam was not her usual self yesterday"- The driver answered.

"Tell me in detail"- Veer said a little bit loudly. . His tone a little  serious now.

"When We went to Madam parents house ,she was  very happy and it was showing on her face and in her behaviour too"- The driver continued.

" And the same case was when we were returning from  there. She had a smile on her face  and contentment of meeting her dear ones  until........"-He stopped.

"Until what???"- Veer was now losing his patience.

when we were about to take  a difficult turn, the car in front of us lost its balance in negotiating that turn and as the speed of that vehicle was high, it got rammed into the concrete sideways barriers. I stretched my body to see that car had gotten badly damaged and then  I heard loud shriek of Madam"-  Veer was registering every detail of the event in his mind.

" I turned  my face to see that Madam was sweating profusely..All the colours had been drained from her face. She was looking very scared".

"I asked her if she was fine But she didn't  gave any reply. She was just staring at the site of accident. I took a U - turn from there and brought her home immediately"- The driver took a breath of  relief after narrating the whole sequence.
