Appearance/Info

He has pure white skin, no face, and is abnormally tall. I'd guesstimate him to be around 7 feet. He's only seen wearing a business suit complete with a black tie. However, in one shot, the tie looks red. In all other shots, it's black. It's possible he alternates between them when he wants. Fashion icon.

He's a business man, he's gotta dress up for his meetings of course. - Brinlee

Traits

He comes off very aggressively in Marble Hornets. He isn't afraid to be caught on camera but he does cause horrific glitches when nearby. He's never seen actively hurting people, but he does cause others to commit violent atrocities. Maybe he has them enact his will for entertainment? Or maybe he needs someone else to do the job because he doesn't wanna get blood splatters on his nice suit. Who knows?

Motive

He's never caught doing anything but taking the bodies of the deceased/dying and stalking the living that he's interested in. His motive could be anything from entertainment to breaking down people's sanity to kill them. Who can really say? Nothing's been confirmed.

Differences

Those inexperienced in the community may believe that Slenderman and the Operator are the same entity. However, there are two key differences between them:

Slenderman has tendrils that extend and retract from his back, but the Operator is never shown with tendrils.Slenderman is seen kidnapping children whereas Operator seems to target adults. (Younger Tim was an exception, but he wasn't kidnapped.)

Proxies

Operator has no confirmed proxies in canon. Masky and Hoodie, as well as Alex, work against him. His targets are all adults, but he has targeted at least one child. There's evidence he stalked Tim since he was young, all the way up into adulthood. Despite this, Tim was never actually a proxy. I have a lot to discuss about all of this though so I'm going to move into the theories section.

Theories

Marble Hornets really proves why you can't have a mentally broken person as a proxy. (Spoilers, skip this section if you haven't finished.) Nearly everyone dies. Everyone he targeted was against him. Masky and Hoodie actively fought against him, Alex tried to eradicate everyone that came into contact with him (including close friends) to stop his influence from spreading, and Jay even ran headfirst at him in anger. In the end, only Tim and Jessica lived. Tim was watched by him as a child though, right? Maybe he was desensitized to his presence from a young age as opposed to the others who met him as fully grown and developed adults. In my Slenderman chapter in the proxies section, I mentioned children being a good target to proxify later on. Maybe Tim is the first good example of that statement being true. Tim was diagnosed with schizophrenia (though people theorize he wasn't actually ill because no one knew the Operator was real), and he had to be medicated for it. Despite this, he's a very strong individual who makes good choices under pressure. He was the last man standing. He even killed his attacker, Alex. All of this could be more than enough to make him proxy material. Maybe after the events of MH he was made into just that.

Yeah, it could have been totally possible that the Operator used everybody else as pawns, just to test Tim. Maybe the Operator used the others so that he could GET to Tim, who knows. Since MH was left off at a low-key cliffhanger, anything could be possible man. - Brinlee

Also, I'm compelled to believe there's some reason why Slenderman and the Operator look so similar despite their gap in abilities. Could their species be related but facing devolution in skill with newer generations? (This is someone else's theory, but we're no longer friends.)

Bye now.
