"I don't ever want to do any of that ever again."

I laugh at Trevor who's lying on the gym mats, half naked. It's been several hours since we got to the gym and it's nearing midnight. I sigh and stand up, ready to call it a night. I have to go get Angie from Emma's house so we can go home. I hadn't meant to train for this long with Trevor, but time seems to have gotten away from us.

"Get used to it," I walk over him and begin packing up.  I mentally organize my schedule for the next few weeks, sighing when I realize how hectic it will be. Me agreeing to train Trevor, or spending any time with him at all, was completely unplanned. It's going to throw a real wrench in my schedule especially since I have Angie to look after. My next scheduled fight isn't for another two weeks, so I don't have to worry about that right now. But I'm beginning to rethink this whole mentoring thing now that I have all this stuff to manage. I have half a mind to just tell Trevor that I quit.

But we need the money.

"Hey, why'd you fight?" Trevor suddenly asks, he stands up as I finish packing up my gym stuff. "Of all the people, I never would've guessed that I'd find you illegal street fighting."

"Why'd you care?" I ask, annoyed by Trevor questioning me. "We aren't friends Trevor. All I'm going to do is teach you how to punch, and all you have to do is stay out of my personal life."

I'm not usually this harsh to anyone, but Trevor has always seemed to rub me the wrong way. It's going to be hard to push past the fact that he used to torment me everyday at school, and probably will even more now that he knows who I am.

"You mean to tell me that you don't want to be best friends with me?" Trevor asks as he begins to pack up his own stuff. "You've soiled our friendship garden, Violet. Soiled it."

I ignore him, and his Spongebob reference, as I wait for him to finish packing up his stuff so that he can get out of my gym and I can lock up. Trevor moves agonizingly slow, and I can't tell if it's because he wants to annoy me or because he's just tired from the work out. Finally, after him moving at the speed of a sloth, he turns to let me know that he's done.

I shut off the rest of the lights, like I always do, before leading Trevor out of the gym. He walks out first and I follow behind him to lock the gym doors. We silently head our separate ways. I begin walking down the sidewalk to go retrieve my little sister, and Trevor makes his way over to his car.

I've never minded walking on my own late at night. I can defend myself just fine. But I hate it when I have to walk with Angie late at night. I don't like putting her in any type of danger at all, and even though I'd never let anything bad happen to her, it still makes me all the more anxious that something bad is going to happen to her.

"Why're you walking?"

I jump a little bit at the sound of Trevor's voice, and turn around to see him trailing behind me in his car. I stop walking as his car pulls up closer.

"Because I have to go pick up Angie," I deadpan before turning back around and continuing the walk to Emma's house.

"But it's late," I hear a car door slam and look back to see Trevor, now out of his car, following behind me.

"Trevor, what're you doing?"

"Making sure you don't get kidnapped."

"Okay...Why?"
