JJs POV
At the hotel I held Mara in my arms and swayed slightly, she was playing with my wedding ring, spinning it in circles, I couldn't look at Emily or Penelope
I just couldn't face them, i never wanted to act like that but I couldn't help myself,
I was only focusing on the 4 year old in my arms
"This is pretty" she whispers, spinning my ring side to side
"It is, guess who gave it to me" I say and she looks up at me curious
"Emmy gave it to me when we got married" I smiled, our wedding day was the best day of my life, I was finally married to the women of my dreams, the most perfect women I could ever imagine spending the rest of my life with
After saying this to her Mara and I both looked up and smiled at Emily, I don't mean to shout at her or to shut her out, I just hope she knows that
"Are you hungry baby girl?" I ask Mara, it was nearing 6 pm
"No thank you" she says defiantly and I chuckle
"Did you want to go out for dinner?" Emily asked
"No, I'm sorry I just don't feel up to it" I say turning my gaze away from Emily again
"Jayje , it's okay. How's pizza sound instead? Something easy" she says and I nod, Penelope as well
"Okay, I'll order that now" she smiles and I nod
"JJ?" Mara asked laying against my chest
"Yes my girl?" I reply
"Can we play" she ask and I smile, I absolutely love that she is coming out of her shell and being more comfortable with me
"Of course, go get your bag and bring them over here" I say and she nods, sliding off the bed and going to the side of the room she was previously in
The hotel room had a big entrance way, 2 king size beds and the bathroom with the jacuzzi and large shower, same with Penelopes
Mara came back over with her bag and climbed back onto the bed so we could play
Emily's POV
I love seeing the way JJ interacts with Mara, they already have this special bond
I'm no good with her, I don't know what to say or do, I don't know how to raise a child. She quiets down whenever I am around.
"Pen you want to ride with me to get pizza?" I ask and she nods
"We'll be back". I say giving JJ a kiss and walking out of the hotel too
"You okay sugar plum?" Pen ask me once we got into the car
"Hm? Yea I'm good" I smile
"You don't have to put on a brave face for me" she says and I sigh
"I just don't want to worry JJ, she has so much going on" I say
"Yea, so do you. You guys are a team." She says and I nod
"Yea I know, but she is more important right now, this all just happend at a bad time. I mean we just got Mara, now this" say, tightening my grip on the steering wheel, I just want us to go back to the way we were before
"I know this is hard for you Em, but talk to JJ. I'm sure she will appreciate it" Penelope says and I smile softly
We pulled up to the pizza place and I got out to go in and get it, I paid and got back into the car starting the drive back to the hotel
