JJs POV
It's now the last week in January and we are leaving for Pennsylvania, and we are meeting Maya and Carina there
She wants to talk to my mom now, and I have to get over the fact that I wanted nothing to do with her anyway
For some reason this entire trip is making me sick, having a daughter of my own I couldnt imagine just sending her off.
I don't even know how this is going to work, last time we had Penelope to keep Mara but she can't come this time
So Emily might have to just stay at the hotel with Mara leaving me to see my mother alone
We were already packed and Mara and I are in the car waiting for Emily to come back out since she had forgotten something so important as she put it
"Mommy takes soo long" Mara sighs and I laugh, definitely agreeing with her
"Yea she does. Remember baby it's going to be a long car ride so why don't you try and nap a little?" I ask and she shakes her head
"Not tired momma" she says simply and I smile
Emily soon came down and got back in the car
"You good?" I ask and she smiles and kisses me
We had already ate lunch so I was really hoping Mara would get tired enough to fall asleep
"Momma?" Mara ask once we had started driving
"Yea baby?" I ask
"We going to see Maya and rina?" She ask and I smile
"We are ladybug" I say and she smiles,
It didn't take long for Mara to fall asleep after Emily started driving, something both of us predicted
"You sure you're okay with this?" Emily ask me and I nod
"I'm okay. I knew it was going to happen sooner or later" I sigh and she nods
When we were finally down to the 3 hour mark Mara had done woken up a while ago and was tired of being in the car for so long
"I want out" she says and pulls at the straps of her car seat
"I know, we have an hour left" Emily says and Mara pouts
"I want out now" she fights and kicks the back of my seat, she sits behind the passenger side and Emily is driving
"Hey, none of that" I say and she continues
"Do you want your iPad?" I ask and she shakes her head
"Out momma" she cries and I sigh
"Baby close your eyes and we will be there soon" I say and she brings her fist up to rub her eyes
"Can we stop somewhere? Let her out to stretch her legs?" I ask Emily and she nods as she looks for a rest Stop while Mara continues to cry in the backseat
Once we got to a rest stop I helped Mara out of her seat and held her hand as we walked inside since this would be the last bathroom break until we got to the hotel
Once we were all done me and Mara continued to walk a little
"Do you want a snack?" I ask and she shakes her head and reaches up for me and she wraps her legs around my waist
"I don't want to go in the car" she says and I sigh and we walk over to Emily
"We are almost there and then we will be at the hotel" I say and she whines against me
"You want to play on mommas phone?" I ask and she nods and once I got her settled in the car I handed her my phone and left for the hotel
"Are Maya and Carina going to be there?" Emily ask me
"Their flight lands at 7" I explain and she nods
The rest of the trip was pretty good, Mara didn't get upset anymore and by the time we got to the hotel it was time for dinner so we just ordered in
"See rina and Maya now?" Mara ask as she was sitting on the bed with my phone
"Soon, they aren't here yet. But it's time to let me have my phone" I say and she holds it closer to her
"I don't think so" Emily says and walks over to her
"Mommy, go away" she says and Emily raises her eyebrows
"Excuse you?" She ask and Mara turned away from her and waved her hand
"Go away" she repeats
"Mara Prentiss" Emily says firmly and Mara turns back to look at her, knowing she messed up with the tone of Emily's voice
Emily took my phone from her and handed it to me and picked Mara up, settling her in her lap
She didn't say anything but held Mara close to her
While Mara is normally very well behaved she doesn't always have good days and we have to remember she is only 4
And while we know not to encourage this behavior it's really nice to see her acting like a 4 year old and not a child who is afraid she will be hit for making mistakes
"You feel better now?" Emily ask her, knowing she probably just wanted to be close to one of us after being in the car all day
"Don't leave" Mara says and holds tighter to Emily
"I'm not leaving" Emily assures her and Mara nuzzles her head into Emily's chest
"You can't get any closer" I chuckle and she frowns and tries to move under Emily's shirt while the two of us just watched in confusion
"Mommy" mara whines and Emily's looks at me confused and I shrug
"I'm here baby girl, I'm not going anywhere" Emily tells her and mara puts her arms under Emily's shirt to hug to her closer
We got a notification that our food had arrived so I left Emily and mara in the room and I went down to the lobby to get it
When I got back in the room the two of them had stayed in the same position
"Alright ladybug, let's eat some dinner and get a bath and you can go back to cuddling mommy" I say and she sighs but allows Emily to put her on a chair to eat
"Is it good?" I chuckle, seeing she had spaghetti all over her face
"Yea momma" she giggles and continues to eat
Once she was done she let me put her in the bath with no fight, we packed our own soaps since mara was very particular about her strawberry shampoo
Once she was done in the bath I wrapped her in a white fluffy towel and we went back out to the room so I could get her dressed
I finished getting her dressed and she jumped on the bed and stopped when someone knocked on the door
"I wonder who that is" Emily smiles and mara stood behind me on the bed
"Rina! Maya!" Mara shrieked as soon as Emily opened the door
"Bambina!" Carina smiles and mara gets off the bed so Carina could easily pick her up
"Hi" Mara giggles and Carina tickles her stomach
"Auntie Maya" she smiles and reaches for Maya, clearly surprising her
"Oh! Hi" Maya says taking her in her arms
Mara soon went back to Carina while the 5 of us talked for a little until they decided to head to their room
We agreed to meet at noon tomorrow
Emily and I both showered quickly and got into bed with Mara who immediately climbed on top of me
"We have a cuddly baby today" I smile and she lays her head on my boobs and held onto my shirt
"Goodnight ladybug. Momma loves you"
