Change of Perspective (Jemily)

Chapter 39

JJs POV

Unfortunately Emily goes back to work today. And we both know Mara knows it. All night she stayed cuddled up to Emily.

Knowing Emily would most likely have to leave out today and that leaves Mara and I just sitting at the house, so I was thinking about taking a trip into the office.

Taking Mara to see where we work and to see Penelope

Of course, just as I was getting comfortable again Emily's stupid alarm went off letting us know it's 5:30 and time for Emily to get up

Usually, Mara is in her own bed or if she does sleep in here with me, Emily is already gone so we don't have to worry about an alarm and she sleeps till almost 8, I just hope she will fall back asleep once Emily's leaves

"Emily" I say, hoping she would get up and turn it off, which she did but not before waking the 4 year old in between us Who started to whine tiredly, not used to being woken up by an alarm

"Come here Mara" I say softly and she loves over to me once Emily gets out of the bed

"Go back to sleep, JJs here" I tell her calmly and she curls up into my side

"Jayje you can go back to sleep" Emily tells me, getting clothes out so she could shower

"I know, but you're about to be gone for a week. I can sleep when you leave" I say and she nods

"Well do you want to shower with me?" She asked and I smile and nod, carefully getting out of bed so I wouldn't wake Mara and followed Emily into the bathroom

Once we were both showered, she got dressed for work while I just put some clean lounge wear on knowing I would just lay back down with Mara

With Mara still sleeping Emily and I made our way to the kitchen and each got a cup of coffee,

"What are your plans for today?" Emily asked me

"Well, depending on how Mara is, I was thinking of taking her into the office, just to see where we work and Penelope. So when I go back to work she isn't blind sighted" I explain

"I think that is a good idea. Maybe better to do while we are on the jet. That way you don't have to worry about us calling Penelope unexpectedly with Mara there. And that way you can have her connect us so we can FaceTime for a little" Emily tells me and I nod

"Sounds perfect my love" I reply and Sergio jumps on the table which Emily is quick to take him off and putting him back into her lap

"I need to go, but I love you and I will call you some time today" Emily says coming out from the bedroom. She had gone back to say goodbye to Mara who was still sleeping

"I love you too" I tell her and give her a kiss and watch as she walks out the front door

Seeing as it wasn't even 7 yet I decided on climbing back in bed with Mara until she decided to wake me up

"Mara baby, breakfast" I call out to her

"But JJ" she pouts walking into the kitchen

"None of that sweets. I know you're hungry so come on" I say and she rolls her eyes. Every morning is that same. She complains that she isn't hungry but then proceeds to eat all of her breakfast

I got both of us a plate and sat down at the table and she climbed into my lap

Deciding on trying what Dr.Wyatt suggested I had gotten her, her own fork

"Here baby" i say and give her the fork and she looks at me confused

"I want you to try to do it by yourself. I'm right here and you can sit on my lap" I tell her and she frowns and shakes her head

"Mara how old are you?" I ask and she holds up 4 fingers

"Good job my love" I praise and kiss her head

"Now I want you to do 4 bites by yourself then I will do the rest" I tell her and she still hesitates to move

"Please?" I try

"JJ" she whines quietly

"How about, we go see Penelope after you eat?" I say and she sighs but picks up her forks and takes 4 bites like I had asked and handed me her fork back

"Good job! Oh I'm so proud of you" I smile and continue to feed her and myself

"Alright baby hold my hand" I tell Mara. We had just gotten to the office and are now in the elevator on the way to the bull pen

"This is where you and Emmy work?" She asked once we stop off the elevator and I nod

"Yep, my office is up there, and right over here is Emmys desk" I explain and take her over to Emily's desk and open the bottom drawer where she keeps a stash of candy

"Want one?" I ask Mara and she nods and reached in and takes out a sucker and hands to me so I could open it for her

"Just don't get it in your hair" I warn her and she nods and takes one of my hands happily as I lead her to Penelope

"Penny here?" She ask and I nod

"She sure is" I say and she smiles, I knocked on the door to Penelope "lair" as she likes to Call it

"Mara! Jayje!" She smiles as she opens the door and Mara steps forward to give her a hug

"Hi Penny" Mara giggles And we follow Penelope inside

"Whoa" Mara sighs, looking around the room

"Pretty cool huh?" Pen smiles

"Yea!" Mara yells and runs over to the couch where Penelope had a few stuffed animals

"Mara. Those are not yours" I say and she pouts and leaves them where they are

"It's okay buttercup, you can play with them" Penelope tells her and Mara smiles and returns to her spot

"So... how have you been this morning momma?" Penelope smirks and I shake my head.

"We're good. I actually got Mara to eat a little on her own this morning" I say, super proud of my girl

"What!? That's amazing" Penelope smiles

We spent the next hour catching up and talking and decided to call Emily before we left to go home for lunch

"Mara look who it is" I smile, seeing Emily's face pop up on the screen

"Emmy! Hi!" She smiles and gets up from the couch to sit in my lap

"Hi Mara" Emily smiles and Spencer comes into view

"Mara!" He exclaims causing Mara to giggle

"Hi Spence" she' smiles

"Where you going?" Mara ask, tilting her head

"Vegas" Emily replies

"No know where that is" Mara says and we laugh a little

"It's far away" I say and she frowns

"Emmy is going far away?" She ask, starting to tear up

"It's okay, I'll be home soon. I promise" Emily tells her and she nods

"Okay.... See you soon" Mara smiles

"I'll see you soon. I love you both" Emily's tells us

"Love you Emmy" Mara smiles

"I love you too Emily"
