You were sick and tired of Steve Rogers always doubting your ability to fight for yourself. The Battle of Manhatten was your chance to prove yourself to him, and that you did, blowing up an entire fleet of enemy aliens all on your own. Steve watched, awestruck, for a moment before leaping back into the fray. You knew you'd impressed him and continued to fight with a confident smirk- not knowing the reason Steve always wanted to protect you was that he also had quite a large crush on you and never wanted to see you hurt.
