Your smile fell as Loki's eyes widened and he stepped away from you, shaking his head. You had just told him how much you cared for him- quite a lot, in fact you'd admitted you loved him- but he didn't seem happy as you'd hoped. He stopped by the doorway, thankfully not leaving without an explanation and dropped his head into his hands. You hurried over and reached a hand out to him, but he flinched away. "You're lying..." he muttered and you frowned.
"Why won't you believe me?"
Loki looked up, eyes full of angry tears, and glared at you, appearing the most heartbroken you'd ever seen him. This could not be good.
"Because I'm the monster who parents tell their children about at night?!"
You weren't sure how to respond to that and only hugged him close. He struggled against your grasp for a few moments, but soon collapsed into your arms, shedding tears of anguish.
"You were never that monster, Loki. You are not it now. And you will never be, I know so."
"How? How can you say that-"
"Because I really do love you and I will prevent any future as such. I promise."
