Oahu: Ewa Beach

The scene looked as if the Americans were fighting each other. The landing ship tanks that had been captured off the coast of the Philippines and were flying the rising sun flag plunged into the beach, unloading M4 medium tanks, also sporting the same flag, through their retractable doors. If I may add, the 30 mm cannons that some of the ships were firing were the ones that will be used by the US military in the future.

"Alright, go, go, go!"

"The time is now!"

Raising their battle cries, the officers of the 2nd Mobile Brigade rushed forward. The spearheads had nothing to stop them from landing. There were some resistance positions at the water's edge, but they did not pose much of a threat, perhaps because they had been beaten to a pulp by the firepower support ships of the Reiwa era. As usual, some American-made amphibious tractors were destroyed by anti-tank guns, mines, and M1 bazookas, but quick counterattacks silenced them as well. All that remained was the enemy, who scattered away before the machine gun fire, in front of the tanks.

Moreover, above Oahu, radio-controlled planes that looked like relatives of bamboo-copters were flying in the sky over the island. They were recon planes equipped with highly sensitive cameras and powerful radio equipment, transmitting coordinates as soon as they spotted an enemy. This was the reason why they were firing artillery shots that seem to defy probability theory. They may have found some kind of base, and large-caliber artillery shells and suicide drones were flying toward the middle of Oahu. The Japanese even returned to blow up the landing sites, as Lieutenant General Kuribayashi had done on Iwo Jima, by doing so.

"Honestly, I'm glad everything is going so well," Colonel Tsuji, who had landed on a beach stained with some blood, muttered a bit dazedly.

It seemed that his great-grandson, Major Mihara, was right when he said that the Americans had abandoned their attempts to defend the beach.

"But we must make haste."

Tsuji suddenly took out his radio. It was impossible to intercept, and it was difficult to locate the source of transmission.

"4th Regiment, what's your status?"

"No significant enemy activity at the moment. We are receiving various types of fire support."

The energetic response came almost immediately. The entire 4th Mobile Regiment had made a covert landing near Kahe Point on the southwestern tip of Oahu last night, and after traversing the mountainous terrain with their best efforts, they had joined up with the 8th Company, which had successfully liberated the camps. Even though they were armed with Reiwa Japanese weapons, they were still quite impressive. However, although the 4th Regiment was called a 'regiment,' it had less than 300 members. This was the most important factor to be taken into consideration.

"However, we are still isolated behind the enemy lines," the regimental commander said jokingly. "Of the former prisoners, only about one hundred are ready to fight, and that's not enough for anything."

"You are alone and we will be on our way soon. Until then, hang in there."

He ended the radio communication with a reassurance. Tsuji once again checked a mental map in his mind so that he could carry out his words. The Honouliuli camp is located about 10 kilometers inland in a straight line from the landing site, and there is a troublesome enemy resistance line along the way. The offshore vessels were still pounding that area, but no matter how accurate they were, they should not assume that they can blow up the entire position with artillery fire alone.

'But... that one can't be prevented.'

Tsuji looked at what was coming down from the landing craft and grinned at its dependability. With only four Type 74 tanks in its arsenal, it had to be one of the 2nd Mobile Brigade's secret weapons, and with M4 medium tanks and M3 halftracks around it, it could easily punch a hole in the enemy lines. In addition, there were also armored bulldozers that do not require soldiers, remote machine gun vehicles with caterpillar tracks, and other strange but useful equipment that will come down the line one after another.
