Ronan was attentively listening to the history class, or at least it seemed that way. Devon, seated next to him, was also trying to pay attention. Although he could hear the teacher's words very clearly, he couldn't help but glance at Ronan and think about what had happened that morning in the hallway.

Why had he suddenly kissed him like it was nothing? And why was he acting as if it had been their first kiss or something? Normally, Devon was the one who liked to provoke such reactions, and in his short life, he had never met anyone more intense than himself. But if he was honest with himself, he liked it.

The worst part was that, as soon as the kiss ended, Ronan gave him a smile and took his hand to lead him to his first class. Devon couldn't react, and he walked on autopilot. He felt truly stupid.

He hadn't even noticed his surroundings, which meant he hadn't thought for a second about attacking his classmates. He had too much self-control to be a newborn. Or maybe he was just more focused on other things, or rather, someone else, that he didn't even have time to think about drinking his classmates' blood.

"Is everything okay?" Ronan asked in a low voice, glancing at him with a small smile.

Devon took a second to react, but eventually nodded and picked up his pen to write down the last sentence the teacher had said. Ronan refrained from laughing and also focused on the class. At least, most of his attention, because he found Devon's reactions charming, and he wanted to provoke many more.

Edward felt a headache, although it was biologically impossible for him. However, this feeling persisted all morning when he saw Ronan leaving the house with Devon's motorcycle. He had a pretty good idea of where exactly they were going, and he didn't like it at all.

But it was also true that he had no right to claim anything. In any case, Devon was the one who had every right to do so, and if that were the case, he would understand.

Edward left his house twenty minutes after Ronan because he didn't want to encounter him on the way. Besides, he was going to pick up Bella, so it was obvious they would meet on the way.

For his good or maybe bad luck, they had already left the Swan house when he arrived. Bella was patiently waiting for him on the porch. She smiled when she saw her boyfriend and hurried to get into the car because it was starting to rain.

Bella couldn't help but notice Edward's sour expression, although she didn't understand the reason and wasn't sure if she wanted to ask.

"You hadn't told me you had a brother," she casually commented after a moment of silence, "a biological brother."

Edward gripped the steering wheel tightly. He could break it, but he restrained himself.

"We've just started dating; I didn't think it was necessary for you to know that. Besides, Ronan and I aren't that close," there was a short silence, "there are still many things you don't know about me."
