~*~*~*~*~Cory's POV~*~*~*~*~

Chapter Twenty-Three

"Good morning Cory," mum said as I walked into the kitchen.

"Good morning," I replied with a big smile on my face.

"You're in a happy mood," she stated.

"Had a good sleep and finished a lot of homework last night," I explained.

"Oh I guess that's good.... wait, did you say homework?"

            "Indeed I did."

            "Liar."

"I'm not lying!  It's all on my desk upstairs if you want to have a look."

She gave a quick glance at me then walked up the stairs into my room.

She returned five minutes later and gave me a big hug.  "I'm so happy Cory!  You did your homework for once!"

I chuckled.  "It's not like it's a big thing mum."

"But Cory dear, this is a miracle!  You never do homework― Its Lily isn't it!  She's gotten you into this."

My face dropped automatically.  "In a way."

"You should invite her over to study with you today!"

I shook my head.  "No point, she hates me now."

            "What?"

"She went on a date with Jake last night."

"Jake as in Jake Carter?" she asked.

            I replied with a nod.

"Oh sweetie!"  She ushered over to me and enveloped me in a hug.  "It'll be okay... Is this why you're studying?"

I nodded.  "Tristan said the difference between me and Jake is I actually have brains if I try and Jake doesn't.  So perhaps if I became more mature Lily might want me..."

"Oh Cory, you don't have to go changing for a girl!"

"But there's another reason to it."

            "And what's that?"

"If I don't get my grades up I'm kicked out of that school..."

"Oh shit... I guess you should study then."

            "Yeah."

At that point Jojo bounced into the kitchen, dancing to some song on her iPod.

"I'm in the mood for karaoke!" she sang over her iPod.

I grinned.  "I'm up for it."

She took out her head phones. "What?"

"I said I'm up for it."

Her smile turned into her game smile.  "It's on like donkey kong!"

"Let's bring it down to China Town!"
